Our 1-hectare garden is an oasis of peace between the colonies of Weldaad van Merksplas and Wortel. The Colony of Wortel has just received UNESCO World Heritage status. In our garden you will find a swimming pond, quiet and unique camping spots, a covered summer lounge, a winter lounge and a real firepit. You camp between the fields and the state forests. In four years I have transformed the garden from a tight lawn into a small paradise. Come and enjoy the tranquility of the Stille Kempen. I myself come from the Ratrace of festivals and events, and find the peace and energy here to recharge my batteries.

A beautiful place, in the middle of an oasis of peace. I enjoyed it immensely! The large garden offers plenty of beautiful places to retreat surrounded by nature. The swimming pond is a big plus on warm days (including outdoor shower!). The indoor shower + washing facilities are also very pleasant and modern. The toilet was in an intermediate building that you share with the Airbnb visitors, no problem for me.

Truly a little paradise full of secret spots! An ideal place for camping in nature. The fire place is wonderful, ideal for a delicious (vegetable) barbecue and philosophizing about life by the fire in the evening. The swimming pond was a great gift in these warm temperatures (and the seaside campsites that are fully booked). Our kids had a blast! Thank you for accepting their enthusiastic sounds with a smile!

Tips for new guests?
Recipe idea, ideal to prepare on the fire pit.
Lay leeks (just play the white end slightly) completely on top. After a good half hour remove (take off the charred leaves) and enjoy. We also put a full bulb of garlic on the BBQ (all the way from scratch when you start the fire). You cut off the top points so that you can see the toes and they are slightly open. After a while, the garlic cloves are soft and you can spread them on the wrap like a kind of sauce.
Peach with garden rosemary and pepper. In a papilot above the fire. Yum.

Be sure to visit Carrot's colony. Our kids also really liked the corn maze and cafe at the colony. Run by a non-profit organization for people with intellectual disabilities.

Top Campspace in a fantastic garden. You can choose your place yourself. There is a nice swimming pond and plenty of space to seek shade or the sun. There is even a lounge corner where you can retreat or sit under in bad weather. Here 'peace' reigns.
Some facilities still need to be looked at such as water and electricity but the helpful hosts take care of everything.
In the evening you can make a cozy campfire at the fire pit and enjoy the starry sky.
This campspace is now at the top of our favorites.

How was the contact with the host?
Inge and Piet are 2 very jovial people who receive you warmly with the necessary information and a tour of their domain. They are present but give you enough privacy. They enjoy a nice chat which we also did at the campfire. You feel more than welcome here! Piet is also a living encyclopedia regarding his region but also his domain. (Be sure to ask for the story of Martial Van Schelle).

Tips for new guests?
Of course you should visit the Colonies of Wortel and Merksplas and immerse yourself in this Unesco World Heritage. In Colonie 7 you get a free but interesting information brochure about the history. You can also eat and drink something delicious here.
The cycling tour 'De Landlopersroute' is also highly recommended. A 57km ride through all the natural beauty of this region.
The second tour we did, we stacked the bicycle junctions. We cycled in the direction of Baarle-Nassau and so on to the 'Regte Heide' nature reserve (here you can also take very nice walks). Afterwards back to Belgium and certainly cross the 'Turnhouts Vennengebied' where you have a very nice view of this area from the watchtower. The entire region is really worth cycling through.

The spacious garden is beautiful, green and has nice corners and seating areas. The swimming pond is beautifully landscaped and very nice and refreshing on the hot days we had! The fire pit is beautifully situated and there is enough wood available for a nice fire in the evening. You can also cook on the wood fire if you want.
These were very nice elements of this stay.

At the time of our stay there was no shower room (only the cold shower at the swimming pond) and the toilet was in an unfinished room (toilet was otherwise fine and clean!).

The campsite and the space around it is under construction. They will be really fantastic places for both a B&B and camping. But we are not there yet.
