Peace, distant views and a starry sky in the southern Eifel

About this campspace #s004588

Your host

Thomas

On our approx. 1 ha. Large area around our original Eifel farm, there are various locations on meadow, hag and orchard to enjoy the distant view, sunset and starry sky around a campfire. Alone, as a couple, family or group. Toilet and shower are available in our guest house.
Hiking, cycling, mushroom picking, nature observation or just relaxing are the activities preferred by our guests. Excursions to neighboring Luxembourg (Vianden), Belgium (Clerveaux) or Eifelzoo (Lünebach) are also popular.
There are outdoor pools in Waxweiler and Neuerburg.
Sightseeing flights with motorized and glider pilots can also be booked on the premises of the Utscheid sailing club.
As Cologne residents, we have been enjoying the peace and quiet of our Eifel refuge for 30 years. We are Thommy (graduate biologist) and Sandra (media designer).

What a fantastic place, surrounded by nature and in peace. Bed sleeps great and the space in the cabin is big enough. Camping but with the luxury of a roof. Even saw deer in front of our window!

Hello Jan, Hello Martine,
Thank you for the appreciative words and I am glad that you liked it. It was also very interesting for me (unfortunately my Sandra was prevented) to meet other camspace hosts and exchange experiences. But next time I'll be more careful when consuming Tripel Karmeliter 🤯- can't be compared to Kölsch 😉.
See you soon in Pelt. and greetings from the Eifel

Fine, Thomas received us warmly, stayed in the background and now and then played a game of table football with the children.

Clean Hiker's Cabin with Beautiful Views in a Peaceful Setting! We enjoyed a lot. We found the mattress a bit on the hard side, but that does not detract from the pleasant stay!

Very friendly and helpful man.

Walk 92 (see sign in the center of Berkoth) is highly recommended!

This is an exceptionally beautiful place. Thomas and his wife have done an amazing job renovating the buildings and the green that surrounds it. In every little detail there is a lot of attention and thoughtfulness. The vegetable garden is a work of art. We got to taste the fresh strawberries
We stayed in the little cabin. It has a view that is never boring, like a big HD panorama TV, but better because there is only nature.
The place is very clean and accommodates to every basic need.

How was the contact with the host?
Thomas was very friendly, calm and respectful of our privacy. When we had questions he was always there. He provided us with maps and good tips on where to go, explore and eat. And even a very nice local beer :) Next time we bring one from ours!

Tips for new guests?
We can very much recommend a walk in the surroundings, we took the 29 (or kind of). It's such a beautiful and quiet area. Perfect to relax when you come from a busy city life like we do.
We had our very young and chaotic pup with us, for whom it was the week of her life because she could run around freely in the field in front of the cabin. Hopefully next time Thomas doesn't need to bring out the sawdust... Sorry!!!

June 2022 · Translated from dutch

Host Thomas has responded

Hello Jael, thank you for your appreciative words and we are happy that it was the right thing for you and the puppy. Don't worry about the sawdust, I have plenty of that ;-)

We look forward to seeing you again and until then all the best

If you want to spend a lonely holiday in the middle of nature, this is the place for you!
I spent a week in the garden shed. It is located in the lovingly designed property, with a beautiful view of nature from the cottage.
From the accommodation there are many hiking trails, so every day you can walk in a different direction of the beautiful area
can hike.
You hardly ever meet another person, so that you can really leave the stressful everyday life behind and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature during your stay.
If you do come across people, it is most likely Sandra and Thomas, the owners of the little house. The two are really very friendly and open and lovingly take care of the property.
I will definitely come back and can only recommend this accommodation to the Wärmsteins!

Very nice campspace with a fantastic view. Here you can still hear the silence. The facilities are piccobello. Nice that there is a toilet and shower. There is also a courtyard where you can sit if there is a lot of wind or bad weather. You can also light a fire there, which makes it always fun.
In any case, a Campspace to which we will return. Hence the five stars.

How was the contact with the host?
Thomas is a very friendly host who can provide you with enough information about the area. Moreover, he likes a Belgian beer, so a nice evening at the campfire is part of it. Thomas is always present but respects your privacy. He is always open to questions.

Tips for new guests?
On the 'village square' there is a walking map with all walks from the wider area. We walked the 29 and 92 which are highly recommended. We also did a walk in Waxweiler but this one was less successful. It is better to do the walk in Hamm. We did all our trips by bike and that makes it quite tough. We also drove back and forth to Vianden via Sinspelt, but that is real climbing. If you are not trained or you do not drive electrically, it is very heavy. In Vianden also some nice walks. The town itself is not that much, but the castle is a must. If you want to eat well, 'Beim Hunn' is a good place in Vianden. Tasty grills.
Recommended for this period (early March) is the crane migration from the south. We saw hundreds/thousands flying over. Spectacular.
For the rest, enjoy the peace and the view.

What a beautiful view! At the end of the domain you can see for miles. The first evening an owl flew over our heads and three deer were grazing on the meadow in front of us. Magnificent. And very quiet. The silence was a sound. At all hours of the day you could hear the silence. Nothing or no one in the distance, except the stars. It was a clear night with a brilliant moon. Mist rose from the valley at night, so that we were shrouded in thick fog for the next two days. Thomas actually felt responsible for this, but that is part of the autumn and the weather of November as far as we are concerned. We felt very welcome in this private piece of paradise and enjoyed strolling back and forth between the tent and the courtyard.

How was the contact with the host?
Thomas and Sandra were concerned and are working with their guests in their heads to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Thomas is an available host who shows involvement. He is a pleasant man with stories and a domain that he has cultivated with his own hands that appeals to the imagination. You get a feel for his way of life and his vision of life. We had interesting conversations together! Thank you for everything Thomas and Sandra!

Very nice and nice place. Thomas has created a beautiful place with orchard, vegetable garden and a creative workshop. The wooden house we stayed in is spacious enough for 2 people and a dog. Nice bed and above all an amazing view (both at night and during the day). In the house you have power via a battery. Plumbing is in the house in the yard.

You feel the connection with nature and the earth. Recommended!

Our hosts were very accommodating. It was my first time booking through Campspace and Thomas answered all of my questions in advance. We were already expected and everything was prepared-great! Our trip was nice, despite the storm. Fortunately, Sandra and Thomas had a room in which we could kindly cook and eat. We went on two day trips, one to Trier and one to a mine. Unfortunately we couldn't see deer, at least not during our stay there. But thanks to the heavy rain, we were able to see a fire salamander. He was right in front of our tent. This was of course an experience for our children.
