Tiny House
Do you want to make a short stop in the outskirts of Beilen, or want to isolate yourself for a while in all simplicity, then this is your place. This is possible in our tiny house, suitable for anyone who wants to get away from the comfort and luxury of every day. Are you curious about what off grid living means, then we would like to let you experience it.
Alone or, if you love each other, also in pairs. Simplicity, tranquility, birds, nature, meadow, walking, reading, cycling, horse riding. Keetje is located on the Drenthepad. The accommodation is simple, but attractively furnished. Keetje has an ecological dry toilet. You can wash at the tap or by the outdoor shower. Keetje has bed linen and extra blankets and an infrared panel for heating.
We can provide breakfast, but we don't have to. There is a kettle and a one-burner stove.
You stay among the horses. Possibly bring your own horse!

I am Femmeke. I live with Henk. We have been renovating our farm for about 8 years. Based on the idea: sustainable squared. Not only a 0-to-the-meter house, but also life-cycle proof. Not just for ourselves: can we grow old here, but a multi-generation home. A place where our parents, if they wish, can be old and needy.
We build with natural materials, wood construction, isolate with jute and wood wool (instead of stone or glass wool). Vapor open, finish with clay. HR +++ glass. A front house and a back house, two houses under one roof. So that you can stay with more families. A chalet in the yard, where 1 of the children lives, which can later also be used as a holiday home or B&B. Our very small retreat house or hiker's residence, where simplicity is paramount. There is nothing. You can't do anything there either. But think, meditate, reflect, take a step back, muse, cycle, ride a horse, paint, read, write a book. Don't camp, because you have a roof over your head, but a very simple life.
Sustainable squared also means that we like to share our place in this way. Our place is a place to be. Come a day, a few days. Let yourself be taken care of or not. Having conversations that matter is my job, but you don't have to hit me. Not woolly, but earthly, practically spiritual.
For us, sustainable means that living, working and living in rural areas is pleasant, environmentally conscious, but not puritanical. We integrate what is possible. We'll just drive a big diesel. Replacement is always less sustainable than using it. If this appeals to you and you want to come and stay for a few days, our shed is for rent.

What a beautiful place this is if you are looking for tranquility. You spend the night in a shack that is fully equipped. From this spot you look out over the fields and the two horses of the owner, Femmeke, who walk around the shack. They are very friendly animals, so you can pet them well.
My daughter was allowed to help with mucking out the stables, feeding and brushing. What a party! In the meantime, Femmeke told us all about the horses, but also about their food forest.
We slept wonderfully in the cozy shack. In the early morning we took a walk at the Brunstingerplassen, about 1.5 km from the site. This is one of the many beautiful hiking trails in the area. When we returned from the walk, a delicious breakfast was waiting for us with organic, local and homemade products from our own food forest.
We will definitely come back for the peace, the beautiful surroundings and the hospitality.
