Rocky valley Campervan
About this campspace #s002584
Our home is in a picturesque valley in the heart of Portugal, close to the Spanish border and the town of Castelo Branco. We are surrounded by nature, eco-farming and permaculture projects and opportunities for long walks and explorations.
We are a mere 1 hour from the base of the Serra da Estrela mountains and 15 minutes from the city of Castelo Branco where you can reach all the amenities you could need as well as a beautiful old town. It's a perfect stop off between Lisbon and Madrid, should you be travelling between capitals.
You can stay in our converted van, with heating, a gas hob, water and solar electric charging and lighting, or you can bring your own campervan or tent. We can cook a healthy meal for you in our outdoor kitchen should you want to be catered for. We also have a bar where we can happily grab you a beer or even a cocktail made from foraged herbs and fruit. Be aware that the track from the main road to our house is not great quality so we do not encourage big motorhomes or caravans to stay here.

Meet Sorrel, your host
We are a British couple in our late 20's and early 30's. We moved to Portugal in October 2019 to start a self-sufficient, off-grid lifestyle. We currently live in a bell tent on the land but we are building our home on the land at the moment, hoping to move in in June 2020. We love the outdoors and would love to show you where we live and share our home with you. We also love to meet new people, share travel stories and learn from our guests about the worlds they come from. We hope you have an amazing time with us.
We have 3 dogs, a cat and chickens so we are not new to world of animals, however there are goats and sheep around so if your animal has a tendency to run off a chase other animals, we ask you to keep them tied to the van while you are on the land.
We ask that you only use the outdoor kitchen with previous warning. There is a gas hob in the van that we encourage you to use as your primary cooking place. The outdoor kitchen is our personal kitchen where we cook our own meals and meals for our guests should they want this service. We are happy to let you make use of it with prior warning if we do not need it.
The outdoor hot shower can be a fiddle, so we will talk you through how to use it before you take your first shower.
There is no door on the toilet. It is a compost loo with a view where (mostly) no one can see you. We can make some privacy arrangement should you need them.
