About this campspace

We only accept single bookings - a maximum of ten people in any group with tents, for any given period. (20 euro per adult. per night)

You can can expect a completely private and peaceful experience, camping in our large south facing gently sloping field, bordered on three sides by trees and a clear fast running stream.

Nestled in a rural valley within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, we are located near to the Southern edge of the Preseli hills. A walk to the summit of the highest hill - Foel Cwmcerwyn, is an approximate two hour leisurely hike from Rhydfach, mostly on designated footpaths. From the top it's possible to see the South and West Pembrokeshire coastline.

Guests are welcome to make a small fire or use a BBQ. Sacks of logs can be purchased from the local shop. There is a small spring fed lake where you can sit and watch the dragonflies or have a swim. (Please see note about swimming below) A toilet and shower is available for your own private use in our mobile home.

There are local forestry tracks for mountain biking and a crystal clear pool for wild swimming at the old slate quarry in Rosebush. At the nearby community owned pub, Tafarn Sync guests can enjoy views of the Preseli hills. and live music (check their website). The nearest shops are located in Maenclochog which is two kilometres. It has a grocery store, cafe, garage, pub and post office. The nearby attractive lake and dam at Llys-y-Fran, has a cafe overlooking the lake. In addition a variety of supervised water based activities, are on offer including kayaking, paddle boarding and open water swimming. It also has a children's playground, bmx track and bicycle hire.

There are plentiful opportunities for, surfing, kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding coasteering or fishing around the coast. The nearest beach is Newport 11 miles or Dinas both approximately 20 minutes by car. We recommend a drink/meal at Newport golf club (open to non members). The bar/restaurant has outside seating and stunning views over the bay. You can then walk to the large sandy beach at the bottom of the hill. For music lovers, there is the Fishguard Folk festival in late Spring and the Jazz festival later in the summer, with both having many free or bucketed events.

Boat trips to see the puffins on the islands of Skomer or Ramsey are available between Mid April-Mid July. There also regular small boat trips from Tenby to visit Caldey island. A beautiful and varied 240 kilometre coast path stretches around the whole of Pembrokeshire where seals can be seen in the more remote coves. Cardigan bay is also home to dolphins and porpoises. We are always willing to offer hints and tips about the best places to visit.

Please note:
Arrival time is from 2.00pm
Departure time is before 11.00am
Phone contact: If we do not answer please leave a voice message and we will return your call.

We recommend bringing Insect repellent in the summer, especially July, to deter midges and horseflies. We require that children are supervised if going beyond the main camping field, especially the area around the swimming lake. Anyone not a proficient swimmer needs a buoyancy aid when using the lake. Due diligence accepted, you agree at the time of booking, that the site owners are exempt from any responsibility for personal loss or injury during your stay.

What an amazing stay! Absolutely everything was perfect, the location, the site, the facilities we couldn’t have asked for me. Dennis and Sue were amazing hosts and we will definitely be stopping by again

We're a group of seven university students who stayed at Rhydfach's valley camping for a long weekend. Had a really great time staying here - the field was very well kept and the provided fire pit and wood was perfect for us. The toilet and shower were very clean and the water was always warm - the facilities for charging our phones were also massively appreciated. The camping fields offers a great level of privacy and the surrounding Welsh countryside is gorgeous.

How was the contact with the host?
Dennis has been nothing but excellent in communicating with us, even going the extra mile to give us suggestions for places to visit and the best pubs to get a drink in. Responses were always quick in the weeks leading up to our booking, and Dennis was always on hand to answer questions when we were planning out our days.

Tips for new guests?
Nothing much, maybe remember to bring extra cooking gas so you don't run out like we did!

Great location. Lots of space to ourselves in beautiful surroundings. Just the right facilities (water, toilet, shower, electricity for phone charging) but otherwise away from it all with the sea and things to do within easy reach. Perfect for a relaxing week

How was the contact with the host?
Dennis was brilliant in the run up to our visit and while we were there. Always helpful with lots of suggestions (with detailed directions) for places to go and things to see, His recommendation of the beach at Newport with lunch at the Golf Club was so great we went twice.

Tips for new guests?
Go to the Wales National Botanical Gardens on the way through. Have lunch in Narberth at the one of the street food stalls in the old school. Try the Rosebush Quarry for swimming (we ran out of time).

Rhydfach valley is the perfect spot for a peaceful camp connecting to nature! We swam in the pond, made a fire and woke up in the morning to the sounds of the stream! The area around Rhydfach offers beautiful beaches, hills for hiking and many friendly locals! We had the perfect time and we will definitely come again.

How was the contact with the host?
Communication with Dennis was easy from the start! When we arrived he welcomed us warmly and showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed. Him and his wife Susan gave us many helpful tips for exploring the are and we had some lovely chats!

Tips for new guests?
Definitely check out the quarry pond in Rosebush! The highlight of our trip :)

Beautiful, quiet, and romantic spot. The little lake is very nice for a refreshing swim.

How was the contact with the host?
Dennis and Sue are very warm and welcoming. We arrived really late due to traffic but that wasnt a problem and they even offered us a cup of tea.

Tips for new guests?
Go for a swim and stay more than 1 night :).

Hi Hanneke

That was very kind, As a thankyou and because you didn't have the opportunity to experience our beautiful coastline and the views from the Preseli hills, we would like to offer yourself and one other person two free camping nights, when booking a minimum two paid nights (Always check the weather forecast before booking). The quarry pool in Rosebush is six metres deep, crystal clear and also great for a summer swim. (Photo on my Campspace page). Maybe see you both next year.

This is absolutely the best campsite we have ever been to!! We hadn't realised this but you get the whole campsite to yourself!! We usually go to a much bigger campsite in a different area but it has become busier and noisier over the years so we were looking for a lovely quiet campsite and came across this one! We also have some dinghies that we lake to relax in on water and the small lake at the top of the campsite was absolutely PERFECT!! The whole campsite is well maintained with a lovely caravan at the bottom that you have exclusive use for showers and going to the toilet. The location is wonderful and the only sound you can hear is the babbling brook at the side of the campsite - there is very little light pollution so you can sit out and enjoy the evening sky - we would highly recommend this site to people who love to get away from the busy world for some peaceful, quiet time with nature

How was the contact with the host?
Dennis and his wife are the perfect hosts - very responsive to all our messages and requests and super friendly and welcoming when we arrived! They said that we could help ourselves to raspberries from their many bushes and they also left some fresh apples off their tree for us - they gave us lots of information and recommendations about the local area and were helpful and accommodating - we have already booked for next year and cannot wait to return to this lovely place!!

Tips for new guests?
This is a quiet space so would only be suitable for people who want to get away from it all - other than that it is a perfect place to camp

This campsite and it’s surroundings are amazing. So peaceful and relaxing and lots of space for the children to run around in and explore nature with a lovely bit of woodland and a swing to play on. The lake is wonderfully refreshing on a hot day and it was great to swim while watching dragonflies zooming around. Our 2 families had a great few days playing and relaxing around the campfire in the evenings. Our hosts were very hospitable offering us tips on good swimming spots and other places to visit. We would definitely like to return another time!

How was the contact with the host?
Great. Dennis replied very promptly to all email contact prior to our visit and was very accommodating.

This was a real treat - Dennis & Susan couldn't do enough - logs, site tour, local tips for pubs & swims! The site is spacious, there is a river, a natural pond to swim in and it is secluded on a hill with flat spaces to pitch. The loo & shower are a real asset and we had three days relaxing, swimming, bbqing, chatting around the bonfire. This is a real gem and the hosts make it very special! We will be back!

How was the contact with the host?
Contact with Dennis was great - he couldn't be more helpful. Directions, welcome details & local info.

Tips for new guests?
Just enjoy this site, it is a lovely walk to the local pub, the river is a wonderful backdrop & the pond beautiful to swim in...

Hi Zoe

Thanks very much for the book. Great photos of the pooches, especially yours. We have been inundated with visiting family and friends. Lots of swimming walking and a lovely boat trip around Caldey to see the seals. More arriving this evening. I am going to need a holiday! Looking

forward to seeing you again.

Best wishes

After spending literally hours scouring the internet for an available campsite on a sunny weekend in August, I had nearly given up all hope until I stumbled upon CampSpace. Finally, a decent website for locating peaceful, private and more personal camping experiences. My three friends and I were looking for a 2 x night get-away anywhere in South Wales and what a find Rhydfach’s Valley Camping was! It by far exceeded our expectations…

Dennis was very prompt at responding to emails and was flexible enough to accommodate the dates we required. The site itself is a stunning grass meadow, complete with fire pit and a bench. The only surrounding noises came from neighbouring cows, horses and a tractor (by day). At night the skies were so clear that we were able to star gaze around a camp fire which Dennis kindly provided the wood for. We had the whole place to ourselves, including a beautiful swimming lake and the facilities in their static caravan were of a very good standard.

On our full day in Pembrokeshire we visited Newport which has an expansive beach perfect for games and swimming. We also had food and drinks at the golf course club house which boasts fabulous views.

We would certainly like to go back to Rhydfach’s Valley Camping to see more of the local area – perhaps a boat trip or some water sports.

Thank you very much Dennis and Sue for being such welcoming and an accommodating hosts! Hopefully see you next year …….😊
