Quinta da Hortelã - A Nature Paradise near Porto
About this campspace #s002455
Quinta da Hortelã it's a farm house with a small forest area surrounding a blueberry plantation. Lots of space for tents and easy access for small caravans and small motorhomes.
The setting, although only 25 km from Porto, Braga or Guimarães, (all with quite good train connections from the local stations) is extremely quite with absolute silence, except for the natural water streams and wildlife. Situated in a montain top, it's possible, on a clean day, to see the sea from the garden.
There are two main spots to stay. A flat garden, covered in grass and a forest area, with lots of shade. Access is easy for cars and small motorhomes. Caravans, if too long, can have some trouble with the gate.
There is a complete bathroom, with shower and hot water inside the old barn. This is open 24h.
The barn serves as a room for all kinds of activities. Electricity is easily reached and extension cords can be provided (although these are limited in number). There is a refrigerator and a barbeque available.
There is also free Wi-Fi access by the main house.
During the year there are several activities at the farm, mainly linked to agriculture and culinary.
Outside the farm, within walking distance, you can find a horse riding school, several well marked trails, water falls, a catolic sanctuary with magnificent views and the ruins of an ancient (pre-roman) human settlement.
Within less than 30 minutes you can reach cities like Porto, Guimarães or Braga, all with lots to offer.
We welcome families and allow pets.
There is also a children playground and a small water tank, perfect for a hot summer day.

There are not many rules on site other than those mandatory from comon sense, that is, we expect every guest to leave the ground at least in the same condition they found it.
Dogs / pets must be kept on a leach att all times.
There are lots of space and we are very keen on the privacy of our guests. A reasonable distance must be observed between guests, unless there are in the same group and choose to set camp as such.
Smoking is allowed on the outside (not inside the barn and bathroom) but be very carefull (speccially on hotter days) as any distraction might cause a fire.
No camp fires during the summer months, but special places for BBQ are available.
