About this micro camping

We camp on a private little beach at the side of the river Apurimac, close to the thermal baths of Cconoc, surrounded by beautiful carob trees and cacti. "Private" means that no strangers can camp here and only one group at a time. This can be one person, a couple, a group of friends or a family.
We can prepare a nice barbecue to fill our hungry stomachs and afterwards you can enjoy a warm camp fire under the stars.

It is well known that the hot springs cure arthritis, muscle aches, rheumatism, and other disorders, but mostly they are just used to relax! The odorless warm waters ( 20 till 29 degrees) combined with the beautiful view from the pools into the Apurimac Canyon will put even the busiest minds at ease.

There are different possibilities to get from Curahuasi to Cconoc (taxi, public transportation, guided walk, horse riding). Ask for more information to see which one might suit you best!

Meet Stefanie, your host

Stefanie Van Erps studied to become a primary school teacher at the Erasmus University College in Jette, Belgium. She has been teaching since January 2007, mainly in special primary education for children with speech and language problems and children with autistic spectrum disorder. She combined work and study in 2009 and obtained an additional Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. After a couple of years working in Belgium, Stefanie decided to go and teach abroad. She followed a postgraduate course on North-South Relations and Development Cooperation in Kortrijk. Afterwards, she went to Peru to work in a school project named Urpi Sonqocha located in Cusco. That is where she met Gilder Anaya Delgado, her future husband. She discovered the town of Curahuasi, south of Machu Picchu, where the project, camping and B&B are located. Gilder was a raft guide for 10 years in Cusco, Peru and for 4 summers in Norway until he moved back to his home town Curahuasi in 2012 to settle down and start a family. He was always highly respected for his professionalism, techniques and responsibility. The last 5 years he has been dedicating his time starting up and building out the tourist service Casa Lena together with Stefanie.
