Maria

You camp under the standard fruit trees, where a ditch separates the meadow from the nature reserve of Zuid-Hollands Landschap. We have 4 tent camping spots, so as not to burden the environment too much, so first come, first served.
Don't feel like pitching a tent?
Then you can use our de Waard tent, which we have already set up for you. Fully equipped for 2 people.
Present: Duo sleeping mat 10 cm, 2 pillows, picnic table + chairs, 2 burner stove, crockery, cutlery, pans, Senseo machine, kettle, thermos flask, washing up liquid, sink, washing up brush, cloth, tea towel.
Bring your own sleeping bags, pillowcases and towels.
And don't forget your flashlight, it can be dark at times.

In the yard there is room for a camper bus eg T4 with a maximum length of 5.5 meters and max. 2m high. You have a view of the South Holland landscape, where you can discover different bird species and see the occasional hare run past.
The bathroom is located in the Hoge Schuur and has one shower and two toilets.

When the weather is nice, you can relax on our terrace, in case of rain there is a covered place. In consultation you can dine with us from Thursday to Saturday. Please notify us before 12 noon. Always vegetarian, from the garden where possible and organic. We are happy to think along with you if you have other wishes.

You can use our Pipo car all year round.
There is a double bed (140x200cm), a sink with cold water tap, duvet and 2 pillows. Please bring your own: towels, duvet cover, pillowcases and fitted sheet.
The use of coffee and tea is free.
The bathroom and kitchen are located in the Hoge Schuur,
that is why it is useful to bring comfortable entry-level shoes and possibly a bathrobe.
You can cook in the kitchen, crockery and pans are provided.
In winter you can also use the kitchen as a lounge.
For the die-hards there is a cold outdoor shower, but also a fire pit for a BBQ or to sit in the evening.

I had a fantastic stay with Maria and Willy!
I was standing by the water with my tent. What a beautiful and quiet place with a panoramic view. I enjoyed all the waterfowl and birds in the fruit trees.
A stork even landed nearby.
Everything is well and neatly maintained. Very very clean sanitary facilities. Outside are all kinds of nice seats.
It was nice that I could pick herbs from the herb garden. I also liked that there was a crate with some fruit and/vegetables from their garden, from which you could take some. Cozy and cleanly furnished communal areas with an eye for detail.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly welcome by Maria. She really takes the time for you. Maria and Willy are both very helpful. What lovely people! Thanks again for the nice contact and stay!!!

Tips for new guests?
Rent a canoe/kayak from Enspijk. From there you can sail very nicely on the Linge. I had reserved a combination tour so that a bicycle was ready at the end point to be able to cycle back to the starting point.

The campsite at Maria was very pleasant, with a very nice place to set up the tents, very clean sanitary facilities and - not unimportant given the wet weather - a nice covered place where we could spend the evening cozy and dry. You will stay with Maria between the orchards, vegetable garden, sheep, coots and moorhens. Ideal for relaxing. Highly recommended!

How was the contact with the host?
Very very good, both beforehand and on site. Maria is a very pleasant and friendly hostess, who wanted to make it as easy and pleasant as possible for us and was happy to suggest walking routes.

A beautiful place to stay! Beautiful grounds, clean showers and toilets and a small kitchenette with cooking utensils that we could use. From the campsite you can take a nice walk through the area. Maria can tell you all about that. Maria is a friendly host who made us feel very welcome. We can recommend the campsite!

Maria and Willie welcomed us very warmly, gave us a tour of their grounds and then we drank homemade apple juice together.
The camper place is a beautiful spot on a water with a view over the Zuid-Hollands Landschap. In the morning the cows lie in front of the fence and you can hear the birds chirping.
The bathroom is really nice and practical [lots of brackets], the bathroom is also kept very clean. The covered outdoor area is nice for when it's rainy.
A downside is that there is no hot water at the outdoor washing up areas, but the kitchen is right next to it and you can tap hot water there.
Leerdam is a 15-minute walk away. There are beautiful walking and cycling routes nearby. Maria has booklet with different routes.

How was the contact with the host?
Fine. Maria responds quickly to e-mails and during your stay she can always be reached by phone or nearby.

We had a very nice, quiet and warm stay at the campsite with Maria. The idyllic spot on the water is even more beautiful in real life! It is very quiet, you only hear the sheep now and then. We were positively surprised by the sanitary facilities; it was very nice and clean and the shower is just like home (maybe even better..!). We were also very charmed by the seating area, it seemed as if we were in France, between the fresh herbs (which you could pick) and possibly the possibility to light your own fire.

How was the contact with the host?
Maria is a warm-hearted woman who talks passionately about her stay and who also knows a lot about the area. The contact with her was always non-binding and friendly.

Tips for new guests?
A bicycle is useful to explore the area, but the hiking trails are also easily accessible!

We had a fantastic time at the Bij Maria campsite. There were courgettes from the vegetable garden that we were allowed to eat, the toilets and shower were super clean, and the sheep watched us while we drank coffee in front of the tent. The tent sites were spacious and there were several seating areas scattered around the site.

How was the contact with the host?
Maria responded quickly and she and her husband welcomed us warmly. Nice people matching a nice campsite.

Tips for new guests?
The sheep were sociable but also early on bleating to each other, so if you want to sleep in then earplugs are not a luxury ;) Furthermore, the beach of Bassa was a good place for a swim, so definitely do it.

What a beautiful spot in Leerdam! Fantastic cycling and walking opportunities. Very hospitable by Maria with her own pressed apple juice! Beautiful newly renovated outbuilding with fresh shower and toilets. A very nice kitchen (which you can use) and a nice terrace. Pick your own tea from the herb garden!
The only small minus was that there was no wifi. But everything else is great!

How was the contact with the host?
Maria is very welcoming and friendly! Contact very nice!

Tips for new guests?
Take a nice bike ride from Leerdam to Geldermalsen along the Linge. You will pass through beautiful small villages! Really enjoy the many traditional Dutch views in this beautiful river landscape!

Intimate place, quite and beautiful environment. Facilities were new and clean and well-maintained by Maria. Warm welcome, tent was perfect, spacious and neat, with all facilities needed for a smooth and easy stay. I'd come back for sure, and would even consider renting the meeting room upstairs with my team which was an incredibly beautiful space.

How was the contact with the host?
Easy and prompt communication with a lovely host. Maria thought along for breakfast (which we ordered late) and was flexible and very friendly. The home-made apple juice and warm welcome came for free. I recommend!

What a beautiful location this was! Breathtakingly beautiful, with a beautiful view from the tent (including a nest of harriers) and endless hiking options on the other side of the dike. Maria is very welcoming and helpful. Everything we needed was there and if we needed anything she was always there for us. It was quiet, but there were also plenty of activities to do. I highly recommend this place and hope to spend another weekend here this summer!

I would really like to share our experience we had at the nature campsite in Leerdam, near Maria.

What a special beautiful experience we have had at this beautiful place at the bottom of the dike of Leerdam. We were here at the end of April, when the fruit trees on the campsite were also in beautiful bloom.

Maria, the host, is a caring warm woman who knows a lot about nature, nutrition and gardening in the vegetable garden.
She likes to share her Passion to cook and care for others in combination with sharing this beautiful place where she lives with her husband.
We had nice conversations with her and her husband, who knows a lot about the different fruit trees, birds etc in the area.

The small-scale campsite offers a lot of peace and quiet, but also comfort because we can use extras such as a fire pit (we can buy wood for a small fee), the terrace with cozy seats, etc. The new sanitary area is neat and is kept clean.

The view is beautiful and wide. The places to camp or the camper place are spacious and offer enough privacy.

If you like walking and/or cycling, you can make beautiful trips from here along the Lek and Linge. The town of Leerdam is easy to cycle to.

We treated ourselves to a breakfast provided by Maria, which consisted of all kinds of fresh organic, vegetarian ingredients and local products. Really recommended.

The location offers a lot of potential for overnight stays and rental of the rooms with the options for complete care.

We will definitely come back to this place when the apples and pears hang on the trees or can be picked.

The weekend before King's Day (cold nights, northern wind, but lots of sun) we camped at Maria, near Leerdam.
What a lovely place Maria and her husband Willy have created! Nice camping spots under the fruit trees, at the bottom of the Diefdijk, with sheep as neighbors behind and a view of the nature of the South Holland Landscape. A beautiful place for a small tent.
The bathroom, as you may call it, is attractively furnished with many characteristic elements and, above all, good and clean sanitary facilities and wonderfully heated. A beautiful outdoor area, partly covered, partly open terrace, where you can sit sheltered and in the sun with a view of the outside. Maria and Willy are very friendly and give you a warm and heartfelt welcome.
The camping spots, the Pipohuisje and the camper place (and another meeting room) are brand new, built in and around their old barn with many authentic elements.
From this place you can make beautiful trips by bike or on foot along the Linge and to Leerdem and the surrounding area. Very nice!
Also a nice place for a family or friends reunion with people who love the outdoors and camping. We will do that too!
Highly recommended for nature and outdoor enthusiasts!
