About this campspace

Welcome to our mini campsite at 800 m from the Markermeer. Originally, this was an organic market garden with a nature campsite in the West Frisian village of Venhuizen, near the IJsselmeer dike between Hoorn and Enkhuizen. Unfortunately, due to circumstances, we have no harvest this year and the market garden has gone wild. Still, it remains a nice place where you can do whatever you want.

At our mini campsite you can pitch your tent, caravan or motorhome on one of the spacious pitches, in peace and quiet and surrounded by greenery. No own camping equipment? No problem, there are various accommodations for rent, such as a retro caravan with an unobstructed view.

There are various play equipment for children, such as a playhouse, trampolines, slides, sandpit and various go-karts and tractors. Many chickens and roosters live on the market garden, but also two pigs, cats (to snuggle with), dogs and of course many types of birds and insects. Please note that the sanitary building is a short walk away.

We strive for biodynamic horticulture based on strengthening natural growth with attention to soil fertility and diversity in crop cultivation. We see nature as a connected whole, in which the influence of climate, soil fertility, water pollution, biodiversity and air quality, among other things, is a determining factor. That also means that it is not a 'tight and tidy' campsite. The grass is uneven, which may make it difficult if you have difficulty walking. The garden is overgrown and weeds and weeds grow consciously for optimal soil fertility and biodiversity. The roughness is a place for special plants and insects. We are happy to tell you more about biodynamic horticulture.

Environment
Enjoy the tranquility, between the greenery, agriculture and the wide view. Our campsite is located 800 m from the Markermeer, with two beaches. The depth of the water is about 1 meter up to several hundred meters, which is ideal for children, and the water temperature is just a few degrees more.

Of course, the area is perfect for walking and cycling along the dike and through the beautiful polder landscape. We are located directly on the popular LF cycling and walking route; the Zuiderzee route.

6 km away is the historic town of Enkhuizen with, among other things, the Zuiderzee Museum, Sprookjeswonderland, playground 'Kindervreugd' and the ferry to Stavoren and Urk. VOC city of Hoorn is 11 km away and Medemblik is 18 km away.
Various shops can be found in both Venhuizen and Bovenkarspel, both within 3 km of the TuinGoed.
There is also a nice outdoor swimming pool in Venhuizen/Hem: 't Hemmerven and bicycle rental Rijwielhuis Hem.

Atmospheric nature campsite between lots of greenery. Sanitary facilities simple but clean. A refrigerator can be used for those who need it. The weekend we were there the campsite was well stocked but still quiet. There was also a library and many brochures with tourist information.

How was the contact with the host?
We only had contact by email and by telephone, but that went smoothly and pleasantly.

Tips for new guests?
We were right at the back of the water and had a beautiful view. As a result, we were quite far from the sanitary facilities. Enkhuizen (about 6 km away) is nice and quiet and with a pleasant center. The Zuiderzee Museum and the Ship's Bottle Museum are recommended! For a nice walk through the city, for example, the strange street names route can be followed.

We had a beautiful stay at Roland's place. Everyone was very welcoming and chilled. You can choose a spot for yourself and then wonder around the field. The nature took over which I loved to experience and immerse in the natural flow of life. A perfect place to recharge from the busy and fast city life.

You can get fresh eggs in the morning 😉

The area around is also great, you can swim in the meer or go for a walk and something to eat/drink to enkhuizen or Hoorn.

There is also a playground for children and you can get your own fire pit for the afternoon.

Thank you!

How was the contact with the host?
Super good! He is always around working on the field.

Tips for new guests?
There is only a fridge so you need to bring your own camping gaz for warm water/cooking.

Echt fantastisch

We had some wonderful and relaxing days on this lovely and super green campspace. We stayed in the Pipowagen and it was perfect for us.
We were very happy that we got visited by cats (to cuddle) and chickens everyday and sometimes a dog ;) you have warm and clean showers, a place to cook (by the Pipowagen), and a wonderful & wild surrounding with fruits from the garden. Also the ecological aspect of the place is very interesting!

How was the contact with the host?
The contact was very uncomplicated and super nice. We booked spontaneously and Roland answered very quickly, even it was on the weekend :)

Tips for new guests?
Maybe bring some insect spray or anti insect candles, because there were quite a few.

Scout Carlo About the scout program

Tell us about your experience
We had a nice stay at this campsite. Don't expect perfectly raked terrain with marked out areas. Opposite this is a campsite where nature has free rein again and where you can really enjoy the outdoors. By the way, young people work on the site who work under supervision in the vegetable garden, which is certainly a nice daytime activity for them.
The campsite is still under development and needs some attention here and there, but we are working hard on that. There are a number of permanent places on the site with creative accommodations such as a tiny house, vintage truck, yurt and retro caravans. There are chickens and horses scattered around the campsite. There is also a small 'shop' where you can buy organic vegetables/fruit of the season.

July 2021 · Translated from dutch

Tell us about your experience
This camping space is close to the Ijsselmeer which made it possible for us to walk to the nearby shore and enjoy the sun. The campsite itself was "cozy" and green with lots of farm animals to be found. The wild animals, like frogs and ducks could be heard if you listened closely. A perfect place, if you are looking for something to relax in nature and calmness.

How was the contact with the host?
Communication with the host went well. We booked our stay spontaneously and called the host after booking. OUr call was answered and our booking assured quickly. The information on how to get there and what to do once we arrived was clear and we were welcomed kindly.

Super nice campsite in a beautiful location. Very spacious places and power supplies available. Nice playground and go-karts for the kids.

Two downsides: 1. the access road to the campsite itself is in poor condition. I found it a bit exciting with a passenger car (I am very careful with my rims), but with a camper or caravan it is even more exciting. 2. the toilets were very full of dead mosquitoes / flies. They could be cleaned a little more often. I will definitely come back here if I want to camp in the Enkhuizen area again.

Very nice camping. Nice and wild, chickens roaming free, donkeys and pigs on the property, my son thought it was fantastic. Building a fire every day, delicious!

Together with my partner I camped for a few nights at this Natuurcamping. The weather was lovely, enough space to find a nice spot for our tent. The pitches are spacious and new sanitary facilities are under construction. We like a relaxed atmosphere, you certainly have that at this campsite. Audience is very diverse.
In addition, we paddled wonderfully with our SUPs on the Markermeer, in short, a wonderful stay.

One night with our bus camper to end the summer holidays. Beautiful, quiet place on the edge with great views over the meadows and excellent sun position. Sanitary simple and in our case a short walk but with this weather no objection.

We had a nice week on the camping. Incredibly green and spacious, our (small) children loved the playground. The space was partially neglected, but a lot of work was done on it during our stay.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly and helpful.

Tips for new guests?
The sanitary facilities are rather tight for the number of guests, hot water only in defined, small time windows. Depending on the parking space, very long distances to the toilet.

A midweek with the children with our tent on the campsite.
We had a very nice time there. There is still a lot that needs to be done on the garden property and the campsite itself and maintenance is lagging behind. The owners realize this and are working hard to rectify this. This beautiful place will soon come into its own again.
The friendly atmosphere gave us a real holiday feeling. The children aged 8 and 13 also had a great time. Despite there being no WiFi. They made use of the pedal boat, whisper boat, went fishing and the youngest especially enjoyed being able to help feed the chickens and pick berries that he could use to make jam. In the evening we enjoyed the campfire with marshmallows. We will definitely come back. Nature and basic, nothing is necessary, everything is allowed.

How was the contact with the host?
Fine, friendly.

Tips for new guests?
If you like to relax outside every now and then during your holiday, then you give both yourself and the garden equipment a helping hand.

Great place to stand with our camper.
It's also a beautiful place.
In our opinion, the access road deserves a makeover
The toilet facilities: toilets are clean but waste buckets are constantly too full.

How was the contact with the host?
We didn't see Roland the 3 days we were there.

Great place

Wonderful to arrive at a beautiful place after a tough bike ride. Toilet building is a short walk away, but there is plenty to see on the campsite so that is very nice.

How was the contact with the host?
Roland is very friendly! Also offered a nice house to sit in if it rained.

The camping looked not cared at all. It was partialy destroyed and wild. It could have had its climate, but I found it too creepy and neglected. For the plus was warm water, but for so huge campsite second toilet would be worth considering(from "my place" it was about 10 min by walk)

How was the contact with the host?
Contact with the host is a deciding factor for 3 stars.

We stayed there for 2 days and didn't even meet Roland, his wife responded with almost one day delay, so we had to choose our spot by our own, not sure if we can be there.

Tips for new guests?
If you are not a hippy freak, this place isn't probably for you.

The field where you can choose a spot yourself is beautiful and fun. The rest looks very unkempt. The greenhouses are overgrown, the construction plastic is torn, old caravans that seem to have been uninhabited for years (because they are green from the attack). It gives a very unkempt impression. That's a shame because there's a lot to be done.

How was the contact with the host?
There was no one at the reception and we had no contact with a host for the next 3 days.

Tips for new guests?
If you have small kids and you like messy it's probably a good place.
Hoorn is a very nice and beautiful town.

The place is nice size but smelled like chicken shit. The rooster walked past all day clucking and as soon as you ate something in front of you became pretty annoying. The distance to toilets was a bit far and to get water certainly too far. The showers were under construction and functioned poorly or not, the toilet seats were all loose, the little weather sliders didn't open and close properly. In short, just bad. It was well cleaned!! The waste was piled high and you couldn't do anything but throw it in, so there was no question of separating. Everything looked messy and just not finished. A shame for such a beautiful spot between Hoorn and Enkhuizen.

How was the contact with the host?
No idea, never spoke to or saw the good man.

Tips for new guests?
There are better cozy campsites for that money.

Beautiful surroundings. Pipowagen fine and due to the rainy weather very happy with the party tent that was there. This made the cozy corner on a nice field.

Tips for new guests?
The beach is a little further away than 800m and the route is not signposted. I think about 3.5 km.

Due to the rave reviews and beautiful photos, we had high expectations of this "paradise". Unfortunately, the campsite turned out to be rather run-down: sanitary facilities full of spiders, nettles everywhere and an atmosphere of faded glory. Too bad, because this garden item certainly has potential.

How was the contact with the host?
Fine, but not really personal. We would have appreciated it if we had been welcomed upon arrival and shown around.

There is still a lot to do at this overgrown nursery! No problem if everything is clean and fresh. Unfortunately we did not find that. You are comfortable on the field, plenty of room! Also potential enough to grow into a beautiful place!

How was the contact with the host?
Roland was present and came to have a chat.
