About this campspace

The campsite is a stone's throw from Leeuwarden and De Alde Feanen National Park. Very accessible, and very rural at the same time. Camp among the fruit trees in our Old Frisian orchard. Unique are the twilight trips with an authentic barge through the National Park. The campsite has 25 places. Showers, wifi, washing up etc all included in the price. Several times a week we bake fresh pizzas in the wood-fired stone oven. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy!

Found a fantastically beautiful spot at Wartenster during Pentecost weekend 2022. Beautiful, of course, between fruit trees on a ditch, we stayed with the camper. Everything is relaxed, delicious sandwiches in the morning.
We went to eat in Warten at De kok & de Walvis: nice location, very friendly staff but very low quality food (everything comes from the freezer). We also went to eat in Wegea at Grandcafé Jan! It's super nice there, cozy inside and out, very good food for a good price (surprise menu recommended). The next day we went to eat at their neighbours: Oan Tafel. Cooking is done at star level there: insanely good (also costs something).
The camping site is also wonderfully quiet, good sanitary facilities, nice people.

How was the contact with the host?
The contact with hosts was very friendly. And very nice that we were allowed to go from the motorhome to the campsite. There was also a wedding that weekend, which didn't bother you at all, but as a camping guest you lost attention to the questions you had. The price adjustment for standing on the grass remained unclear, fire pit costs money and was not clear in advance, forgot to give fire pit because they were busy with other guests from the wedding. Remained unclear whether or not eating pizza from the brick oven was possible. This has not happened anymore. We are very grateful for the place and had a 100% enjoyable time, but still give the feedback that it is useful to arrange a contact person for camping guests if a party also needs all the attention.

Tips for new guests?
It is also open field, so can be a bit windy. Other than that, really enjoy it. And make a timely reservation for restaurants in the area: Jan! in Wergea absolutely recommended. And if you want stars: Oan table.
