Leiria and its lost treasures in time:
Lake Ervedeira
Ervedeira is located in Coimbrão parish. This small pond with 500 meters long and little known, is between the forest Bear and the Forest of Pedrogão, in the Pinhal de Leiria. It is a freshwater lagoon surrounded by brave and pine trees, eucalyptus, lavender, rosemary and Samouco, among other species such as reeds which provide shelter to the great diversity of fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds that populate the site . The pollution caused by the middle of last century, for chemicals have killed almost all of the resident fauna: ruivacos, carp, salmon and sabogas and it was further inplementada with largemouth bass and carp, which still abound in the pond. Here usually flock ducks and coots and existing reeds along the bank are frequented by small bands of nozzles-de-seal. Lost the tradition of fishing with baskets, narsas and enchalavadas, formerly used by the inhabitants of Ervedeira, but continues to be practiced sport fishing and other activities such as canoeing. The pond Ervedeira is equipped with picnic area, a wooden walkway runs the West Bank (ideal place for bird watching) and is used as a seaside resort and place of pleasant leisure. Neighbouring locations: Coimbrão, Pedrógão Beach, Whale Bone Beach, Praia da Vieira, Vieira De Leiria City: Leiria
