About this campspace

This is a small sustainable campsite for anyone who really wants to feel free on holiday. We invite you to relax and enjoy the beautiful camping grounds and the beautiful surroundings of Sellingen.
You camp on our two-hectare site, in the middle of the forests of Staatsbosbeheer and the farm landscape.

The campsite is located in Sellingen in the hamlet of Laude. Anyone who thinks of the vast Dutch landscape when thinking of Groningen is wrong. The municipality of Westerwolde lies largely on sandy soil and therefore offers a wooded landscape between the farm fields.

The Sellingerbeetse, a small lake that was created as a sand excavation, is a ten-minute bike ride away. The peaceful surroundings and the clean water immediately give you the ultimate holiday feeling.
Another place you can definitely go to on a hot day is the outdoor swimming pool in Sellingen. You imagine yourself back in the eighties with green lawns and children playing in the water. There is a paddling pool for the little ones, a slide and diving boards for the slightly older ones and the more sporty can enjoy the 25 meter pool.

The beautiful fortified village of Bourtange has a number of museums and a medieval terrace square. Bourtange is only a fifteen minute drive from the campsite.

Perfect for...

Rules

A lot can be done at De Strange Duck, but with respect for the environment.
Light a fire is allowed, but preferably in a fixed fire bowl. A little bit of music is fine, but it shouldn't bother the neighbors. Having a nice chat in the evening and getting to know new people is very nice, but it should not disturb the people who want to go to bed early. And if you come with minor children, you as a parent do not go to bed until they are in bed.
The Strange Duck stands for freedom, tranquility, fun, space, together, respect, decisiveness and enjoyment for all our guests and for us. So essentially we're just asking you to think about what you're doing so that everyone can have a good time.

Let us introduce ourselves, we are Nynke, Alex and our son Lucca. We moved from Schiedam to 2 Laudermarkenweg in Sellingen in April 2022, with the dream of creating our own place from scratch. camping The Strange Duck. Our own playground, without special rules. A place where everyone has nothing to do and where a lot is allowed. The Duck is still growing and has just hatched, but the nest is standing.

Tips

  • Around the corner from the campsite is restaurant De Boshoeve, where you will be served delicious regional products. There is also an organic shop, De Woeste Grond, within walking distance.

  • The small village of Sellingen is 3 kilometers away. In the village you will find a small supermarket, lunchroom with large terrace 'Hof van Sellingen', restaurant 'Bruut' and the Herberg
