¡Hola! We are Justin and Yvonne, two enthusiastic adventurers who share a great passion: travelling! Discovering new things, meeting people, hiking… That gives us energy. From faraway trips to city breaks closer to home: as soon as we see the chance, we go on an adventure!
When corona came around the corner in 2020, Yvonne's work in the event industry came to a standstill. But where one door closes, another one opens. This is how the idea arose to find a place together where we can go on an adventure with other bon vivants. It became ''De Houtwal'', a cozy place in nature that we would like to enjoy with you.
You can see Yvonne fluttering around the campsite every day. Justin has a full-time job, but as soon as his working day is over or the weekend starts, he's fun! Together you regularly see us organizing a fun activity.
Are you coming to stay and make our campsite even more cozy?

Beautiful, cozy campsite with attention to details. The campsite's app is also very useful for arranging breakfast, activities and looking up information.
The glamping tent is very attractively furnished and equipped with everything.

How was the contact with the host?
We hadden een heel aangenaam contact met Yvonne. Yvonne was steeds bereid om vragen te beantwoorden en een leuk babbeltje te doen. Ze doet haar job met het hart op de juiste plaats!

Cozy, friendly and super hospitable. Yvonne and Jasper are busy all day to please the guests. Everything has been thought out and worked out in detail. The alpacas are interspersed with flamingos. You will be happy here anyway! We took part in a music bingo and it was a lot of fun for young and old. The bell tent for five people is very spacious and really easy to get along with. Top!
How was the contact with the host?
Super fast contact and responses! Even checking the number of meters compared to the Alpacas because of someone with a lung condition, they did with great ease!
Tips for new guests?
Are you looking for a nice relaxing stay where you can't get the hipser vibe but just be open and relaxed? Then go to the Houtwal!

Camping de Houtwal is a paradise in the Netherlands. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. It is a cosy, small-scale campsite with a summery atmosphere. Numerous activities are provided for young and old. The bell tents were really nice and wonderful to sleep in. We would stay a few nights. We ended up staying 1 night, because we were looking for a different kind of holiday with a little more peace, nature and privacy. It is definitely recommended for holidaymakers who love mutual fun, attention for the children and a summer holiday feeling in the Netherlands.
How was the contact with the host?
Contact with the host was pleasant and fast.

I went from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning and it was a really great experience. On arrival very nice and friendly received and got a nice spot.
In addition, all the amenities that come with it are very nice, such as the large communal tent where a kettle, 2 burner burners, coffee maker, toaster and possibly everything you need to cook / eat that you can use. But also toys for children, books that you can borrow and the most important of all board games / games that you can play together.
The sanitary facilities were also always clean and fresh, which is of course also nice!
The alpacas were fantastic too, especially since they tried to escape every time I was there (had managed a few times before I got there).
What I also thought was ideal was that there were flyers with activities, walking routes etc. in the reception area.
In addition to these flyers, you can also order fresh bread every morning via a flyer (didn't use it myself). But also Evening meal, they will deliver these.
Every Sunday morning they organize bow and arrow shooting for the whole group, which creates a nice atmosphere.
Even though I was there for a short time, I certainly had a good time!
How was the contact with the host?
Contact was very nice, responded quickly to the messages here on campspace and during my stay it was very nice that you could always have a chat or ask Yvonnen and Justin questions.

Camping in the tents provided was great! Everything you need is at the campsite! Yvonne was very friendly and helpful and the set up is just wonderful. The alpacas are close by and are super cute. We rented a canoe nearby at the National Park which was beautiful, and also tried out the Adventure park down the road, which was surprisingly difficult!
How was the contact with the host?
Yvonne responded very quickly to everything and was always nearby if we had a question.
Tips for new guests?
Bring warm clothes for the night as there is no heating in the tents.

Everything was super arranged! The sanitary facilities were clean, all necessities arranged. You don't have to take anything with you when you stay in a bell tent like us. Which by the way looks great! Very nice bed, a fridge that cools excellently. Just the whole thing. Our stay was very peaceful and super relaxed. An absolute must for everyone. Especially with the alpacas walking around!
How was the contact with the host?
The hosts were very nice, open and accessible and helpful. Usually one of them could be found on the camping site, cleaning or having a chat with one of the guests. They are ready with all kinds of great tips and would like to hear how everyone's stay is.
Tips for new guests?
It is even possible to order breakfast and/or dinner through cooperation with a nearby restaurant!

We really enjoyed the Boho bell tent at mini camping de Houtwal. You can tell that Yvonne and Justin are true travelers because everything has been thought of. The bed is very comfortable and the atmosphere is great.
How was the contact with the host?
We had great contact with Yvonne before our stay and we had a lot of fun chatting during our stay. Yvonne and Justin are very open and take the time for everyone.
Tips for new guests?
I recommend that guests bring earplugs and a sleeping mask. It can be a bit noisy on the pitch (even after 11pm) and it gets very light in the tent. Handy to take with you so for a good night's sleep!

What a fantastic place this is! When you walk into the terrain, you immediately become happy with all the details. The Bell tents are so nicely decorated. You don't put up with each other, you just have the space and the toilet block is very clean. There is plenty to do in the area (supping, boating, visiting Giethoorn, hiking...) and the alpaca meadow is of course fantastic.
How was the contact with the host?
The online contact was super fast and personal. We also had a nice chat with the hosts during our stay.
Tips for new guests?
Yvonne gave us the golden tip to bring a sleeping mask because it gets light in the tent early in the summer. So do it!

Staying at Yvonne’s was nothing short of magical. She and her partner are dedicated, passionate hosts that embody the campspace spirit. After a day of work, there was nothing left to do as we arrived to ‘De Houtwal’. We set up in our elegant, luxurious ‘Boho’ tent. We sat back and slept more than I had any day of the week. The bed was so comfortable and the atmosphere so beautifully designed. Murphy, Paco and Niño, the alpacas, were playing like children in their little pool. Yvonne’s place is in constant improvement, but it’s only icing on the cake. There’s space for campers, for people who need a little quiet. There’s space for young people to pitch their tents. There’s space for families and friends around the fire. There’s space for relaxation and play. The bathrooms are fancy, the showers are clean and the surroundings are beautiful. There’s also plenty of nice walks to go around and food to get delivered if you are feeling lazy. We’ll have to come back to see what other magic Yvonne has created.
Night's rest: between 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM it's time to rest and we ask our guests to keep noise to a minimum. This way, fellow campers who want to get their night's rest can do so undisturbed.
Open fire: fire is allowed in the designated places. We sell sacks of wood. We have fire barrels that may be used. Open fire is unfortunately not possible in the event of persistent drought.
Sound: making soft noise and/or music is allowed, but do take each other into account and respect each other's well-deserved holiday feeling.
Pets: Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in our accommodations. 2 pets per booking are allowed on the camping pitches and must be kept on a leash at all times and not cause any nuisance. Placing a run is not allowed. Please let dogs outside the campsite and not near our house or that of the neighbors.
Guests who cancel at least 30 days before check-in date will receive a refund of the amount paid by them (excl. Campspace fees). If they cancel between 14 and 30 days before check-in, they will receive a 50% refund. Otherwise they will not be refunded.
