Very nice camping spot when you're passing through. We were very pleasantly surprised by the well equipped kitchen we could make use of. Our little boy had a blast visiting the cows. We loved the privacy we had as we were the only ones there at that time ☺️
How was the contact with the host?
Herbert was very friendly and responsive.
Tips for new guests?
You can buy (minced) meat or sausages if you like. Just ask Herbert.

We only spend one night at Herbert's Farm, but we had everything we needed and more. The place is quiet and there is plenty of space. We had a good time and a fun Trip!
How was the contact with the host?
Good, friendly Herbert always responds quick if we had a question, and we received an explanation video on WhatsApp.

Thank you for your visit and who knows until next time. Maybe the fish will bite

Small, cute courtyard with a large camping area and XXL gastro kitchen for shared use. Toilet and showers ok.
On the farm you could move freely and spend time with the animals as you wished.
How was the contact with the host?
The host was very nice, straightforward and responded quickly to our request.
Tips for new guests?
The farm cat in the barn across from the kitchen! If you go all the way through you can already hear them meowing. ;)

We had a wonderful weekend with a group of friends in the meadow at Herbert. A very beautiful location where you lack nothing. It is therefore highly recommended to stay overnight at this farm! †
How was the contact with the host?
Herbert is a very friendly and flexible host. The contact around and during the weekend was great!

We were warmly welcomed by this friendly farmer, we could stand dry and out of the wind (aftermath of storm Dudley).
We were able to use the toilets, shower and kitchen (even a heater in the kitchen to warm up when we arrived soaked and freezing cold)
We even got the opportunity to bake homemade burgers and eat them as a delicious dinner :)
How was the contact with the host?
Went super well via Campspace, an explanation video on whatsapp
And the fun farm tour ever in the pouring rain.
Tips for new guests?
Don't mind if some cows start lowing in the middle of the night (happened to us when a violent gust of wind went over the farm in 1 go, which even shook our van back and forth)
All in all... DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!!!

Good, friendly man/people and very helpful. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful and took the time to chat.
Tips for new guests?
You experience the freedom and friendly and helpful people, nice place from there to make nice trips in the area. I can recommend it to everyone.

If you are looking for a place where you really have complete freedom, this campsite is perfect. We were very happy to have the kitchen, especially the oven was ideal for baking bread in the morning. If you don't feel like cooking, home delivery is also willing to deliver to your tent/caravan and there is a good bus connection with Emmen. If you can't handle flying I would avoid the showers.
How was the contact with the host?
Well informed before the time and during stay if something was wrong received a quick response via whatsapp. Absolutely great!
Tips for new guests?
An extension cord is really needed, there are currently only 2 working power points. The power points in the concrete pole do not (yet) work.

A nice place to relax. A Campspace with lots of space, privacy and many luxuries, such as a hot shower, toilet, hot water, very extensive kitchen, equipped with every luxury. Includes refrigerator that can be used by guests. So nice with the warm weather!
I was kindly received on arrival by host Herbert. If you are interested, he can tell you enthusiastically about his dairy farming and the raising of his own new young stock, for the new increase in dairy cows, but also about the cooking workshops that are given in the large luxuriously equipped kitchen.
You are free to walk around the farmyard and get a closer look at the cows both in the barn and in the country, or even pet them if you like. Other animals you'll find here include goats, frogs, and herons. If you get tired of the animals on the farm, there is the possibility of BBQ and/or campfire and there is plenty to do in the area. For example, I took a lovely walk through the Hondsrug Emmerdennen nature reserve (near Emmen) and the Westerwolde / Ter Apeler Bossen (near Ter Apel). Along the way, my eye also fell on the cool mountain bike routes (something for next time) and a number of special (large) birds which could be viewed in the gigantic bird aviaries at the rear of Wonder World park Ter Apel.

The host was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were allowed to stand on the field and use the well-equipped (catering) kitchen.
There was a snack bar near the residence, the croquette art, they have very special flavors there: very tasty!
Half an hour's drive away we went to Bourtange, a very beautifully restored fortification village.
Showering between the cows and camping in nature, highly recommended!

What a lovely place this was! We were there all alone. The owner was unfortunately not present, but was very involved and helpful over the phone. The toilet was very clean and the kitchen huge!

End of August we had a really great stay at the campsite of Herbert.
He welcomed the pre-arrivals very friendly and showed them around. You have more amenities than wished. A really big kitchen, shower with hot water and a toilet. Everything is really clean. The next market is 2 min by bike or a 10 min walk. We enjoyed the quit area on a green lawn. The only noises existing were we and the friendly and curious cows (we were also allowed to pet them :-)) Herbert is a nice host, we could also convince him to drink a beer with us at the fireplace. The wood he offered us for free.
It was a great weekend that we can recommend in full.
5 stars for Herbert and his cows 😊

Beautiful place next to the cows!
Herbert was very warm in his welcome and advised us a nice place next to the cows. We were the only campers on the edge of a large meadow. We had access to a kitchen and a toilet, which at the time only one other couple of campers were using. Showers have also been installed. An absolute must for those looking for a nice camping spot on the farm!

Wonderful farm for camping. We were allowed to choose where we wanted to set up and chose a place behind the stables halfway through the meadow. We also had our dog with us which could fully let itself go by running freely through the whole pasture and the adjacent high grass. So if you like free camping with your own fire, this is a great place to go to. We stayed for a week. The area is wonderfully quiet. We also went to the other farm of the family to witness the birth of a bull calf. It was the first introduction to Campspace for us as campers and for Herbert as a host. If you are looking for peace and space, this is an absolute must. The site is also ideal for camping with groups.

We needed a break to see something different with our dogs, and what could be better than real life COW TV. So the day / sun setting / night and morning was raised by the view of nice black and white young cows. The hosts were remarkable and offered nice toilets and showers too.
And the Cow TV was next to perfect

Herbert was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed cooking in the luxury cooking room! With temperatures above 30 degrees it was wonderful to cool down in the Kibbelkoele with many shade trees around, highly recommended with small children. Back at the tent directly to the cowshed. The children have become great friends with the cows!

Excellent location, spacious meadows, views, tranquility.
Excellent facilities, extensive kitchen facilities with various options, excellent sanitary facilities and a "rural" hot shower. Definitely worth repeating your stay. You get a visit from the "house cat".
How was the contact with the host?
Nice introduction to Herbert and various subjects passed in review.
Tips for new guests?
I camped with an old camper, where I had no power/lighting due to a defective solar panel, so I used a flashlight to provide lighting in the evening.

Lovely stay between the cows / animals! Who wouldn't want that?! :) It smells a bit - which of course is also part of a stay with livestock - but if farming is something that appeals to you, then you are completely happy that you have such a stay can experience in the 'backyard (=on the meadow' of the farmer! :)
And the farmer was very hospitable and guest-oriented!

After we were warmly welcomed by Herbert (and his dog), we were able to choose a spot in an immense meadow. With the cows in the barn and cows in the pasture in the background, and a wide unobstructed view in front of us, as far as the eye can see. All this with electricity on the camping pitch, and a clean toilet and shower in the (modern) stable. We enjoyed the feeling of freedom and space.

We had a very good first campspace experience at "Farmer Herbert". Nice place, swimming pool close by and Herbert took the time to tell something about his company. The children really liked that they were allowed to feed cows .. showering in the stable was an experience! You have a nice kitchen with a refrigerator at your disposal. There is a toilet, which may be a bit limited if ten places are really occupied, but otherwise great!

Too bad the smell of the calves was a bit intense, but otherwise it was fine. The corn looks beautiful and I think it's a great pleasure to look out for it.
How was the contact with the host?
Because Herbert himself was on vacation, the contact was via film and further through the aid farmers and that was ok. I didn't have to disturb Herbert, but he had allowed it.
Tips for new guests?
Go for a nice walk to the monastery in Ter Apel and afterwards have a nice meal in 'Het Boschhuis', which is directly opposite. I got this tip from a helper.

The location of the campsite was fine for us. Unfortunately, the stay was very disappointing. A heavy vulture smell coming from the stable made everything smell of vulture in no time. Of course it is clear that this is a young stock farm and that it stinks of cows and shit, but this was out of all proportion. I myself lived for years on a large dairy farm and also for a year on a pig fattening farm, in terms of intensity the stench far surpassed the latter. The hygiene in the shower areas was also far below standard, dirty overalls and everything covered with fly shit. Also in the kitchen a lot of flies, a screen could offer a solution. So we only stayed one night.
How was the contact with the host?
Farmer Herbert was on vacation, so only spoke to him by phone. That was a friendly and informative conversation. We received a video on how to get to the camping spot at the company. That was well arranged.
Tips for new guests?
The grass is very bumpy so bring a good mat if you sleep in a tent.

Be a good neighbor/farmer. You know for yourself how it feels: after hours in the car, you are finally in the beautiful north with your possessions. Twenty meters further in the meadow, your new farmer puts up a beer as a greeting, while you would prefer to sit down immediately and put such a cold golden rascal to your mouth. "Be a good farmer and offer if you can lend a hand, instead of watching someone else struggle from your lazy chair", Offering does not mean that you actually have to work. There is a good chance that someone would rather do it themselves, but the question alone is worth gold."
2. Pretend you're at home, walking through the corn or potatoes, throwing your garbage: you don't do that at home either, so why on the farm? You are actually in the food of our animals so be careful and use it wisely.
Rent a 4 person whisper boat from us. For €75 euros you can sail half a day and for €120 a whole day. We'll put it in the harbor for you.
