We really enjoyed our stay in the yurt! Everything was in perfect order and Jan was a nice host, very helpful when we needed something. The surroundings are truly beautiful; the yurt is located in an idyllic spot and 't Vinne is definitely worth a visit!

Very quiet location, rustic atmosphere on the farm. The outdoor kitchen is ideal. The music system with accompanying CDs also provides nostalgia. You may make a fire in the accompanying fire bowl. There is wood available.

How was the contact with the host?
We only saw him upon arrival. Very kind. Drinks are available with the principle of trust that you record your consumption in a booklet and pay at the end.

Tips for new guests?
Please note that the sanitary facilities are very basic (compost toilet and no bathroom).

Sleeping among the donkeys, a dream come true for me. What a super nice back to basic place this is. The yurt is fantastic with enough distance from the camping spot. They have many donkeys that all like to come and cuddle. In the summer they are sometimes on the meadow, but also, just like with me, on the property. It was nice and the outdoor shower, the campfire and Jan made the experience complete.

We stayed in the yurt with 2 adults and 3 children. Very nice experience! There is an outdoor kitchen where you will find everything you need. In addition, there is a fire bowl where you can make a campfire. It is near the Vinne where you can walk around the lake (4.3 km) and where you have a nice playground for the children.

How was the contact with the host?
Friendly welcome where we received a clear explanation.

great beautiful surroundings, unique place to stay, very nice walks.
The company of horse and donkey enhances the feeling of the environment.
"Café de Resistance" where you can provide yourself with a drink was a nice added value.
We also enjoyed the campfire with wood.
Worth repeating.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly reception.

Tips for new guests?
the tent has 1 double bed with slatted base and mattress. The second bed is more like a stack of thin inflatable mattresses. Despite the conscious lack of luxury, we would have brought our own air mattresses here sooner, if we had known this. Facilities state "hot" shower. However, no hot water available.
The available outdoor kitchen is really equipped with all the necessities. plates, glasses, pots and pans, .... even coffee and tea available. So don't load anything superfluous for your stay.

Had a great time, super cozy, small campspace where we rented the Yurt. Yurt is neat, complete with a double bed and 4 sleeping pads for the kids. There is a very large tarp in the middle of the site where you can sit, read, eat, play games. Fire pit and outdoor kitchen with all the necessary equipment. Back to basics & back to nature.

How was the contact with the host?
Pleasantly & kindly received, clear explanation about everything. We also booked a donkey ride, definitely recommended.

The host was very friendly and explained us everything.

It was very peacefull, quiet and cosy. There was a campfire and the kitchen had a lot of equipment. The bathroom facilities were very basic, but we knew this and it had its charms

Tip: Bring a little camplight

The tipi is located on a nice old farm, in a rural location and with a view of the forest. There was a covered outdoor kitchen with all necessities and compost toilets. Unfortunately there was no hot water for a shower. We thought it was a nice experience and had a good time. However, 100 euros (including service costs) is on the pricey side for 1 night.

How was the contact with the host?
Very good, pleasant and friendly reception

Katarina

Tell us about your experience
Nice place but not really warmly received. We had booked 2 camping pitches and there were donkeys on the camping field, so we could set up on a soggy path, where the grass was also mowed for 3 hours the next day. The place didn't seem ready for the camping season. But once started it is a nice place to be.

Bring your own chair if you don't like to sit on a tree stump or bench all evening.

The tipi itself is fine, but it needs a refresh, but they are working on that.

Close to a nice walk around a lake.

The outdoor kitchen and the campfire can be shared with other campers, but the kitchen in the tipi tent may be ready soon.

The yurt was really not ok! Dirty and worn out. Especially the strange smell that hit the breath surprised us. How this can still be rented is a mystery to me.

Tips for new guests?
Stay away from this yurt!

August 2023 · Translated from dutch

Host Jan has responded

Dear Daphne
This is not a correct assessment that does justice to a space that is very much appreciated by many previous visitors. As indicated on site, it is somewhat absurd to retreat to the yurt on your arrival in the late afternoon when it is very hot inside. At Den Dolaard there are many other shared outdoor areas where it is pleasant to stay while waiting. As soon as it started to cool down outside, the yurt became a pleasant place to stay in which many people already had a relaxing stay. As evidenced by recent reviews from previous guests ...
That is why we strongly ask that this short-sighted opinion be withdrawn.
On behalf of Den Dolaard vzw
Jan
