About this campspace

Welcome to our site along the Leie!

We are happy to make our former football field available to you. Ready for a fun time with friends or family!
On the property you are secluded from our home. Would you like more contact? Then you are certainly welcome for a drink.

There is a fire bowl and tripod available to enjoy a pleasant evening around the campfire or a BBQ. Dry wood is available.
There is also a toilet, cold shower with rainwater and non-potable water.

For the active among us there are nice walking and cycling routes in the area that start at and around the site.
The Flemish Ardennes are a 30' drive from here.
We are minutes from beautiful Te Lake Castle and PurFruit's self-picking garden.
On the site itself you can enjoy yourself in the hammock, play a game of pétanque, darts or badminton.
The site is also large enough to 'romp' with the kids with something from the sports and games suitcase.
Would you like to take a tour with the canoe? Feel free to ask!

Hello,
We are Xavier and Sara.
Two busy bees, like to be among the people & both bitten by the 'Defender bug'.
We love camping (with tipi or roof tent), cozy evenings around the fire bowl and cooking outside in the Dutch Oven with our family and friends.
In our free time we try to enjoy little things as much as possible, we tinker a bit and you can often find us outside.
We like to share our garden with you and love to get to know you better.

Tips

  • Go pick fruit at PurFruit

  • Enjoy a picnic or the sunset on the old arm of the Leie

We wanted to get away from it all for a day. We have already camped in the past, but this was our first experience with Campspace. While looking for a nice place to stay, our eye fell on Kamperen aan de Leie. We hesitated for a moment whether we should go with our own tent, or whether we would rent the roof tent on the Defender. We ended up going for the rooftop tent.
The roof tent was already set up on arrival. The football field was recently mowed. We received a welcome from Sara, who gave us the necessary explanation. We could freely use the many fire bowls, the petanque court and the sanitary facilities (toilet and cold shower). We also made some nice walks in the area. In short, definitely recommended!

How was the contact with the host?
Friendly welcome, with clear explanations about the facilities, the site and the environment!

Tips for new guests?
Be sure to take a walk along the old part of the Leie. Beautiful environment! Sara can explain the route well.

Very nice hostess and host. Nice reception, nice introduction.
We were looking for a quiet place to spend the night with our camper without any luxury. And we did this too.

How was the contact with the host?
They are very nice people who are working on a nice project. Very welcoming and helpful. They had a nice walking tip and swimming tips for the dogs.
Very beautiful region.

Tips for new guests?
The host and hostess are true animal lovers and our 2 Mechelen scheers were very welcome.
They even drove a piece of grass especially for us.
Tip for other guests: actually none.
Dogs welcome, Pure nature, no luxury. There is a toilet.
Accessible via the towpath. Cross the bridge immediately to the right, the next street to the right (= towpath) and immediately back to the right.

Very nice comb place. a Tip: if you want to go canoeing, it is best to go into the water in Deinze, the lys is not far from the camp site, but it is very difficult to launch your canoe there.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly people, very accessible for questions.

With Sara and Xavier you camp on a football field. There is a toilet in the old changing rooms next to the site. The large site is beautifully situated near the old Leie and you also have a fire bowl available.
We were not far from the house and therefore also got a connection to the electricity network.

How was the contact with the host?
We had a very pleasant evening with Xavier and Sara and will definitely go back.

Tips for new guests?
Be sure to pick fruit at Purfruit's self-picking garden, an organic farm just minutes from the football field. The homemade cakes are also delicious.

There is a lot of parking space, as well as enough camping space. The ex-soccer field is next to the track, but it doesn't bother you much. The closest neighbors are the owners. They can handle a small party.

How was the contact with the host?
The owners are the absolute plus. They are very friendly and helpful. They were also always open to questions or comments.

Tips for new guests?
Bring your own drinking water
Electricity can be requested

I slept in the roof tent of a jeep. Fantastic experience that leaves you wanting more. It is a very beautiful domain with many opportunities for cycling or walking.
I was allowed to use a canoe and sailed on the old lye.
I stayed during the week which made me more bothered by the traffic and the track. But for this, the hosts are looking to place a fence against the noise in the future.

How was the contact with the host?
The hosts were very friendly! Very nice people, with a warm heart. They do everything they can to give you a nice stay.

Tips for new guests?
Self-picking garden is closed on Tuesdays.
Canoeing on the Oude Leie is definitely recommended! There is a toilet and a shower (cold rainwater) available. The jeep also had a chair and table. Fire bowl was very cosy.
