We had a super relaxing weekend for two.
Far enough away from all the crowds, but still close enough to the beautiful city of Goettingen for many things to do. We camped with our van on the pasture and had absolute peace there. We rarely used the lake because there were already campers there and we were more looking for togetherness this weekend.
How was the contact with the host?
Theresa is among the friendliest and most caring hosts on this website.
Tips for new guests?
You have to get used to the railway line, on which a few freight trains also travel every day. It didn't bother us.
My absolute recommendation is to camp here because you can chill and fish right on the lake with a campfire site, diving board and a wonderful view.

We were on our way to Dresden and needed a last minute campsite. We found Theresa's place and we just loved every moment of it. We camped next to the vegetable garden and only a walk of a few minutes separated us from the nearby lake where we swam in the evening and in the morning. The water was very clear and warm (in August 24°C), there are steps to get in or can use the diving board. If you want, you can even use Theresa's SUP!
How was the contact with the host?
The contact with Theresa was excellent. She was very kind and showed us around. She's living on the property. She saved our lives with her homemade Deer&Cheese sausages and we could pick some veggies from the garden, she also offered us a mini barbecue to use. We had a very cozy evening.
Tips for new guests?
You can easily spend a day or half a day next to the lake. You can also combine this campspace with a visit to Documenta in Kassel and then come back to nature in the evening.

Where to start! Theresa's site is flawless. Beautiful surroundings and some of the most hospitable people I have ever met. This site is a gem in the middle of Germany!
The site caters to small groups, so if you are looking for privacy and access to water this is absolutely your place. It is located in a small "apartment" complex which to me felt more like a farm, with beautiful old buildings and a communal bar area, basketball court and skating area.
The camping area is located on the water front, with plenty of options to pitch a tent / hammock and nearby parking. The lake is very quiet and the spot is shared only with the residents of the apartments (who, by the way, are all lovely).
The lake is a disused quarry which was made when building the nearby Autobahn. The water quality is excellent, you can see straight to the bottom. It is some of the best water I have ever swam in and was so nice to have this right next to our camp.
The majority of the time we were left alone, occasionally with one of the residents coming by to use the diving board or one of the SUP's that were so kindly provided for us, however there was also a community gathering on Friday night in the bar area, which we felt more than welcome to join.
We were given access to the communal facilities, fire wood, electricity and water toys, which I think is amazing value for money. Will absolutely be returning as soon as possible to enjoy this spot some more :) Thanks Theresa for sharing, it is a beautiful home you have.
How was the contact with the host?
Theresa was not home when we arrived, but her husband gave us a tour of the facilities and showed us where we could camp. Throughout the weekend we bumped into each other a few times and she was always more than helpful and wanted to make sure we had the best time possible. These guys are truly awesome, I'd encourage anyone to go :)
Tips for new guests?
- Bring biodegradable soap for washing in the lake
- Be mindful that you are near a town, there are other people and sometimes those people make noise
- There is easy access to the water, bring a kayak if you have one!
- There is a train line on the other side of the lake, it didn't bother us, but do bare in mind if you are looking for complete silence as there are around 4 trains an hour all day and night long.
- If you are a skater, bring your board!

A quiet, comfortable pitch. Good starting point for a bike tour and the lake right next to it is just great.

Theresa offers a truly unique retreat here! You can park behind the house on a meadow and enjoy nature there - but the highlight is the lake a little further behind the house. Theresa invited us to a round of stand-up paddling - there is also the opportunity to have a barbecue and relax right on the lake.
How was the contact with the host?
Theresa welcomed us warmly and showed us everything, as well as explaining the possibilities at the lake. It was really a great night with her!

A really nice spot to stay but unfortunately the description and photos were somewhat misleading. They suggest that your camping lot is overviewing the lake which is not the case. Moreover it was much to noisy for us because the camping lot is close to the indoor playground (bouncing basketballs & clattering skateboards) and there are freight trains running by at short distance frequently. I suppose it could be experienced as idyllic and quiet by people from urban grounds, but it was not for us village people.
How was the contact with the host?
Theresa is a very friendly and helpful host, we enjoyed meeting her!
Tips for new guests?
Ask for a camping lot in the field with the apple trees and kitchen garden. It is more quiet than the spot at the entrance to the lake.
