You can enjoy cycling in the Mijzenpolder (bicycle rental can be requested, bicycles can then be brought and picked up) and here you mainly have peace and quiet. We have a care farm, all week and on Saturday, where participants come for daytime activities. For we have a ring canal where you can fish, sail (no boat rental) and even swim in good weather. Only with us no open fire ... In exceptionally bad weather, the canteen can be used if necessary. There is a toilet in the nearby canteen, the shower is in the stable, which is small, but good for real campers to use .... This is all about enjoying everything and hoping for great weather .... where everyone is ready .. have fun and see you soon ... love karin

Great stay at this care farm. Was allowed to stand with my tent where I wanted and use the kitchen which was very nice during this rainy day/night. Good sanitary facilities.

How was the contact with the host?
After a tiring hike while it started to rain harder, Karin was already waiting for me. That felt very nice and welcome. Very hospitable despite the busy existence of these people (I think). Nice conversation with Ron the farmer's help. In the morning the farmer has made me a nice cup of coffee. In one word it was fantastic. thanks.

Tips for new guests?
Be sure to drop by. A beautiful experience. Btw: De Schermer is also a beautiful area to walk through.

Warm welcome by a young lady. We had a nice spot on a nice lawn. Nice that there is also indoor space and excellent sanitary facilities. The hostess herself was on vacation and we just had the misfortune that the youth had left the music on all night, which slightly disturbed the peace.

How was the contact with the host?
Quick response from Karin and good info to find the location.

Tips for new guests?
Lunch in Oudendijk at cafe 'les deux ponts' and a visit to the harbor town of Hoorn.

Beautiful care farm with friendly people. Great to stay with (small) children. Two large trampolines to let loose on; and before going to sleep, have a look at the calves and lambs. Was absolutely great!

We stayed 2 nights at the Mijzenhoeve care farm. A beautiful place, in the middle of the open polder, wonderfully quiet. Very nice farmer and farmer. Nice to see the animals: sweet dog, two cats, cute lambs and of course the cows. Highly recommended if you want to relax and enjoy cycling in the area.

In Avenhorn a warm welcome awaits Karin and Adrie at the Mijzenhoeven, where the couple runs a dairy farm. In addition, their farm is a care farm. The tour is full of enthusiasm and love for the company. We have 65 cows, but also sheep, rabbits, chickens and horses. Our pastures are 40 hectares, so that our cows have plenty of space. Now the view from the camping location on the beautiful Mijzenpolder gives a wonderful feeling of space. The place is spacious in the vegetable garden. The picnic table is handy. For bad weather is a provision. The sanitary facilities for the camping guests are simple, but this is real camping. The sweet dog Rover comes to watch enthusiastically.

We had great days in Avenhorn. The hospitality of Karin and Adrie was very good. Very friendly people! The camping spot is fine with a large picnic table. We chose a view of the horses. Toilet/shower facilities are basic but clean. We enjoyed the dairy cows and were also allowed to give the young calves a drink. My son would like to return so much; he liked getting so close to the cows. Great starting point for visits to Hoorn, Alkmaar, and Schagen

The reception was warmest. We had a nice place with a beautiful view! We had the bikes with us and were able to cycle wonderfully. They can still do something about the sanitary. But the pros of this place made it special!
