At the back of our very large garden is a HEATED caravan that has been converted into a super cozy tiny house. You sleep next to the horses in the middle of the green. This is the ideal place to completely withdraw and come to yourself or to enjoy being together in peace. The horses will keep you company.
The view of the animals gives you the chance to observe them closely and enjoy the movements within the herd. These animals are so authentic and pure. This teaches you to enjoy the little things in life.
Having a nice chat around the campfire about the experiences of the day, about what the horses had to tell us, makes you realize how much these animals can still teach us.
If desired, you are responsible for their care.
The horses are also used during coaching sessions where they give you more insight into who you are and why you are here. They show you what you need at this moment in your life to break through certain patterns and make the right choices. They can also reveal dynamics within a family or group.
You can also experience beautiful walks and bike rides in the beautiful Hageland. If you cross the street, you walk straight into the Demer Valley to get lost in the beautiful nature for hours.
We live on the mountain bike trail. So you leave directly on the gravel into the Demerbroeken. My husband has everything you need to tinker with your bike:
Bike Wash, compressor, and knowledge of bicycle mechanics. Your bike is safe and dry here under the shed or in the garage.
Other fun activities nearby:
- Sail down the Demer (full or half day) from Aarschot or Scherpenheuvel
- Walking in the Merode (Averbode Abbey)
- Visit Horst Castle (Castle of the Red Knight)
- Swimming in the Rotselaar lake
- Multi-day hiking routes to nearby bivouacs (Rillaar, Walenbos)
The pleasant city of Aarschot is also nearby. You can go there for cultural trips, swimming parties, delicious dinners, cinema, fun shopping, etc.
The caravan has 3 single beds and a sitting area that you can convert into a double bed. There is a fully equipped kitchen with oven, fridge and freezer. A toilet and shower are also available. And of course heating for the colder periods.

Our horses live 24/7 outside in an Equi Habitat and can therefore be completely 'horse'. You can always take care of them if you feel like it. They are also used in coaching activities.
Our chickens are eager to meet you.
The many plants in our garden attract many birds.
We have our own permaculture project and are working on the construction of a food forest.
Our horses are on an Equi Habitat. This is an imitation of the natural habitat of horses with many shrubs, herbs, grass, trees, ... and in between paths on which the horses find their way.
We grow our own vegetables, berries, fruit, nuts,... and have started building a food forest.
We love wild flowers.
You can unload on site and then park in front of the house

We are a family with two daughters, 1 dog, 2 cats, 6 chickens and 2 horses. We recently moved from Antwerp to Betekom because we were looking for more peace, space, soil, grounding, biodiversity, slowing down and of course also room for the horses. In this place we can cherish our love for mother earth.
We are working towards being able to live as self-sufficiently as possible in the long run.
We don't want to keep this place to ourselves but like to share it with others. So feel completely welcome!
Tell us about your experience
Quiet location between the fields, view of their 2 horses. Cozy furnished caravan. Some basic cooking supplies are provided (coffee and tea, salt and pepper), but no olive oil. We were not prepared for it :) You do have all the kitchen equipment you need.
Explanation about everything that was needed in the caravan. There are nice books and games available.
How was the contact with the host?
Nice and smooth contact with Ellen and Jef, both in advance and upon arrival. Want to help give you the best possible experience and see what you need as a guest.
Tips for new guests?
Be sure to bring fat if you want to cook here.
The shower and toilet (porta potti system) are very basic, but okay if you have no problem with that. The doors are difficult to close, so if you often have to go to the toilet or are with someone you want some privacy with; keep this in mind.
