cozy farm with fruit orchard and beautiful views
About this campspace #s004827

Your host
EllenOn our cozy farm we have a heated and comfortable caravan in the yard and a number of camping spots, where you can enjoy the view of the fruit orchard with trees that are almost two centuries old and the roaming animals, including chickens, cats, sheep, goats, a calf and horses. Located in the West Frisian countryside, 3 km from the IJsselmeer and 10 km from Enkhuizen, Hoorn and Medemblik. In the yard you can cuddle and care for all the animals, help in the vegetable garden, have a barbecue, sit around the campfire, participate in yoga classes, play games in the barn, look up at the sky in the tall grass, and much more: )
[NB! This space is temporarily inaccessible because we are building a communal bathroom with hot shower. We expect it to be available to guests around July 1. However, there is water in other places] There is a common room with games and books where you can sit in bad weather or in the evening. This is also rented out and used for workshops and meetings. If you are interested, ask about the possibilities! You can also wash dishes and make coffee and tea here.
There is an outside toilet and but we don't have a shower yet (we are working on this, if this is important to you please inquire if it will be ready by the time you want to come). You can already use a tap with a garden hose for an adventurous, refreshing (cold) shower :)
A delicious breakfast with fresh regional products, firewood and a barbecue can be ordered/rented for an additional fee.

It was a really fun place to stay at. Various farm animals, friendly campers, soft grass to camp. It had all the elements for a relaxing stay.
It is also very close to several beaches and the dikes!

Ellen was very friendly and responds very fast.
Tips for new guests?
1. Feed the animals!
2. Make sure to go to Schellinkhout

We had a wonderful time camping in the orchard. We were the only guests (and we loved it), so plenty of privacy. You can enjoy yourself there, and eg cuddle with a (now somewhat oversized) calf, goats, chickens and horses. Literally camping with the farmer. There is an indoor area (which is also rented out for workshops, for example) where you can make coffee and get water. You can easily reach Hoorn or Enkhuizen by car.
How was the contact with the host?
Ellen is a treasure! The contact before and during the stay was great and she came to serve us the delicious breakfast that we had ordered for the first morning.
Tips for new guests?
Go with the right expectations! The stay is basic. There is no shower (yet), so in the Dutch summer cold we stood behind our van under the cold garden hose. If you prefer more luxury or are looking for 'real' camping facilities, this may not be the place for you. Are you more of the laissez-faire and do you like peace and quiet, then this is the place for you!

We had a great time at the campsite!
The area is quiet and we slept well.
How was the contact with the host?
Ellen and her boyfriend were relaxed, helpful and friendly and had suggestions about places to visit
Tips for new guests?
There is a compost toilet but we found that the separation bin underneath is too close when you sit down. Our tip is bring hygienic cleaning / disinfection wipes with you!

A lovely place, super nice hostess / gentleman. We felt wonderfully free here.
How was the contact with the host?
Very good. Before and during our stay. They are very welcoming!
Tips for new guests?
Do not expect a luxury campsite. But it is an authentic spot in West Friesland. Nice to cycle around here.

Ellen and her lovely family received us with lots of kindness and were very eager to accommodate us. Ellen went out of her way to make us feel welcome and she prepared a little tourist guide around the area. This farm is a very peaceful place with some of the cutest farm animals. We put up our tent in the orchard. Besides the lovely setting this spot also provides a good view over the surrounding landscape from which we could watch the sunset. The next morning we received our optional breakfast between the buttercup flowers in front of our tent which created the most romantic set-up. The breakfast (which we highly recommend) comprises the most delicious products originating from the farm itself and other local sources. After parting with our hosts we also cycled through the countryside towards the IJsselmeer where we took a refreshing swim on a hot day. The historical cities such as Hoorn and Enkhuizen in the area also make for great sightseeing. We had a great getaway together staying at the farm. This was just the break we needed to get away from the hassle of everyday life.
