IT'S ALL ABOUT NATURE
Back to basic

Camping in the fall. You will be amazed how beautiful and fine it is. The trees turn orange, the landscapes disappear under a bed of leaves and you see how nature prepares for winter. Hours of walking and romping in the forest and then warm up with hot chocolate, a steaming bowl of soup or a cozy campfire.
-Bring dry wood for the campfire. A campfire is nice all year round, but in the fall, when it gets dark earlier and cools faster, it is extra nice! Make sure you have dry wood to start a fire. Take it with you from home, so you don't have to try to make a fire out of wet wood. Make sure that you keep the stock in a dry place, otherwise it will be of no use to you.
-Use a Dutch oven to cook over the campfire. Prepare a delicious stew or hearty meal soup over the campfire, it is best to use a Dutch oven for this. These pans are specially made for cooking on an open fire, the legs under the pan do not smother the fire.

Do you want to get away from it all and are you looking for a unique place in the Westhoek to unwind? In current corona times we make our estate temporarily available for those who wish to camp in a beautiful piece of nature. We want to make you happy. Only accessible after reservation.

In the meadow of 't Kasteelhof, an unexpected green spot (3ha) with a panoramic view over the fields and the village church in the distance. The estate contains an orchard, a small grove and is completely surrounded by a hawthorn hedge, the favorite place of many birds. You can enjoy their singing talents and the sounds of nature. You often see hares, pheasants and partridges. Pure nature!

't Kasteelhof refers to a former 16th century castle farm, of which only a partly walled farm is still visible. It is located in the village of Beveren-aan-den-Ijzer, which is part of the Westhoek, also known as 'Bachten de Kupe' ('Kupe' refers to the valley where the river Yser flows). Much of this region is characterized by its war history. It is located near Ypres, Heuvelland, the art village of Watou, Veurne, Diksmuide, the Belgian west coast and 100m from the border with Northern France.

Besides enjoying nature, you can also do a lot of fun activities:
> Wonderful cycling along cycling junctions
> Beautiful walking routes - eg the Dode Yzer walk can be started from here, about 10 km
> Wooded area where you can spot deer & the flat land towards the coast (the Moeren - reclaimed area in the 17th century)
> Fishing & canoeing on the Yser in Roesbrugge (1km)
> Golf & sailing in Oostduinkerke & Nieuwpoort (20 km)
> Tourist attractions on the West coast (20km)
> Plopsaland and Bellewaerde amusement parks (20km)
> Many war sites in Ypres and surroundings (10 km)
> Art galleries in Watou & Veurne (10km)
> The best abbey beers in the world. Taste the best beer in the world in the café of the Sint-Sixtusabdij in West-Vleteren and buy a number of crates to take home! Always nice to surprise friends with it.

The village includes a café and a shop with farm products and within a radius of 5 km you will find a proxy delhaize, fresh bakery, ATM, doctor, pharmacy, cozy restaurants and a delicious Belgian chip shop!

With our micro-camping, we offer very spacious camping spots where peace and quiet prevails. It is a meadow of 3 ha with an orchard and a wood with many shady places. Everyone can choose their spot and is located between 30 and 100 m from each other. Only campers up to 6.5m can drive in.

-If you come with your tent: normal use of water and electricity for small items (mobile phone, water heater, coffee maker ...) is included. If other devices are connected (fridge, cool box, etc.), an additional cost of 5 euros / n will be charged. Please mention this in advance in your booking request.

-If you come with your camping car or caravan: Tapping points for electricity and drinking water are optional. Please also state this in your booking request. For a sani station regarding discharge, etc., we would like to refer you to a fully equipped car wash in the area (2 km).
