We had made a reservation for 2 people for 4 nights.
We arrived and it looked very nice. There was a lot of people at the campsite and it turned out that there was no room for the reservation that we had already made and paid for. They then offered us a place next to the campsite without electricity (which we did indicate in advance that we needed this).
While setting up our tent, our neighbor (who was also next to the campsite) came by. He started tying our tent to his tent with the storm cords even though we said we would do this ourselves.
He started feeling our bikes on our luggage rack and asking what the cost was, and did the same with our tent and stuff that was still in our car. He told us that things are very easily stolen here as there are people walking around here at night and that a tent is quickly on fire. He started testing our bikes and locks and they would be stolen.
We felt so uncomfortable that we thought of going to sleep in shifts at night to always keep an eye on things so that nothing would get stolen. The neighbor brought in another friend of his and when the two of them were finally in our tent inspecting everything, we decided not to stay there any longer and (coincidentally through friends who were nearby) were able to get a place that same evening at another campsite. We decided to talk to the campsite owner about this and say that we were leaving because we don't feel comfortable in that place. When we spoke to him he said there was no problem canceling and that we should just send an email and get our money back.
We never got a reply to the email and never saw our money back.
How was the contact with the host?
The owner was very sweet and friendly when we spoke to him, but never heard from him again as promised.
Tips for new guests?
If you are looking for a very basic campsite, without facilities, this is the ideal base. Be aware not to bring any valuables and electricity to the tent is not possible.
