Sleeping in a bell tent with a private grove on the Berendries is ecological lo-fi responsible camping on one of the peaks of the Flemish Ardennes.

Be sure to check out our range of workshops (weaving, tufting, bamboo box making) and retro bicycles to explore the region, or use the bicycles to visit our eco-family wellness.

Do you want to take a break alone, with two or with the children. Then you can go to this eco-camping place of Stephen and Charlotte. Then sleep well in a furnished glamping tent for two or six people. Would you rather go out with more people? Which can! you can book the 2 tents together and then there is room for a group of 8 people! Dogs are allowed. You can also cook on a gas fire, there is running water, a compost toilet, electricity via a power bank and solar panel and fun games are available. Our glamping tents are located on top of the Berendries in Brakel and were once part of a medieval road between Oudenaarde and Ninove. Today it forms the connection between Michelbeke and Sint-Maria Oudenhove and is a real walking and cycling paradise. The climb is a popular slope in various cycling races, including the Ronde, the Omloop van het Nieuwsblad and the Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde. So feel free to bring your walking shoes or cycling gear!

We are Charlotte, Stephen and Zsuzsanna.
Den Berendries originated from a desire that Charlotte and Stephen had to spend more time as a family, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. To be more in nature yourself and to enjoy, play and discover together as a family, with the lowest possible impact on nature. So sustainable tourism!
Stephen is the creator and builder of this and his ultimate goal is to make den Berendries completely self-sufficient and to promote the biodiversity of the site.
Charlotte is the driving force behind the workshops and takes care of the cozy interior of the tents and makes the ceramics from which you eat and drink.
Zsuzsanna is our inspiration and is the first to test everything. She is responsible for quality control with a very critical eye.

Tips

  • Lay yourself alone or with two in the hammock in the bush and look at the stars through the atrium! And after the stars you have a drink in the flying saucer, a cafe on the Marktplein.

  • Walk along the old miners' path and have a drink in the boombekemolen.
