About this campspace

On our private property in the village, just a few kilometers from the Harz Mountains, we offer you a quiet spot to spend the night or linger in a tent.
We have a lot of space and you can choose your own place around our house when you arrive. Please note: We have received many inquiries from people who would like to come to us with campers. Unfortunately we do not have space for campers or caravans directly on the property. If you want to spend the night in your vehicle, you can park it under our carport, right next to the property. However, the vehicle may not be more than 2.10 meters high. You can also use our cozy covered terrace with table and chairs.
The fireplace is at your disposal. Firewood can always be found in the adjacent stream.
A small charcoal grill is available and can be used.
For the summer we have a large wooden pool in the garden, which you are welcome to use after consultation with us.

From here you can go on excellent cycling or hiking tours in the mountains, but you can also cycle in a relaxed manner across the surrounding fields.
Experienced cyclists can reach the Brocken at 1142 in about 2 to 3 hours. But please remember that you should also have suitable bicycles for this. You can also rent bicycles in nearby Ilsenburg or in Wernigerode.

The cycle paths in all directions are directly adjacent and you are immediately in nature. You can be in the tourist town of Wernigerode in about 30 minutes by bike. You are in Ilsenburg in about 20 minutes. Goslar and Bad Harzburg can also be reached quickly by bike.
Hiking tours can also be started from here. There are several bus stops nearby, from which buses depart regularly in the direction of Wernigerode and Ilsenburg.

Our property is located directly on the Via Romea pilgrim route, which leads from northern Germany to Rome, so we are also the perfect stopover for all pilgrims.

In the village of Veckenstedt you also have the opportunity to go shopping in the country market at normal discount prices. Hiwer there are also numerous regional specialties. The market is about a 10-minute walk from our garden. A bakery is also available, this is also open on Sundays. There is also a Volksbank ATM at the Landmarkt.
If you like to eat fish, the Veckenstedt fish farm is recommended, there is fresh fish and fish rolls here, and if you like fishing, there is also a fishing pond with trout, eel, pike, sturgeon, catfish, carp and zander.

The A 36 motorway is only a 5-minute drive away, so you are welcome to stay with us while you are passing through (don't worry, the motorway is far enough away so that your peace and quiet is never disturbed).

If you stay with us, you can shower and use the toilet in our house next door. The bathroom is fully equipped and you have drinking water and electricity. The sanitary facilities are available to you alone during your stay, they are not used by other people and are thoroughly cleaned after each rental.

If you arrive by car, you can park it under our carport (maximum height of the vehicle is 2.10 meters).

If you wish, I can then give you some insider tips on hiking, cycling or other interesting places on site.

We don't rent our garden twice, so you're always undisturbed and don't have to share the sanitary facilities.

We are very child-friendly and also have some equipment for children on site. A high chair is available and there is also a large sandpit in the garden that you are welcome to use. There is also a children's playground in the immediate vicinity.

If you come to us with children, we ask you to take good care of your little ones, as not every corner of our large garden can be made absolutely child-safe and our property is not completely fenced. Otherwise your children will be thrilled and can even play with us at the stream.

We look forward to you!
See you soon😉

Tips

  • Every guest receives a fresh Hasseröder beer from me after arrival so that you feel comfortable right away. By bike you are also in about 30 minutes in the tourist town of Wernigerode (about 10 minutes by car) with numerous great restaurants, sights and a beautiful old town with a castle

  • You can get a sunset with an idyllic view of the Brocken just a few minutes' walk away for free, directions are then available on request;)

  • The local market in Veckenstedt offers a good selection of groceries and regional specialities

  • The "Bauernstube" inn is about 200 meters away. Typical German cuisine is served there.

  • Top restaurants in Wernigerode or Ilsenburg, about 10 minutes by car

I camped with my son in Marie and Max's garden for three nights. The place was wonderful, beautiful nature all around, a covered terrace that we were allowed to use, a great little bathroom in the house just for us...
We were even allowed to use the pool.
For us the perfect place to explore the Harz Mountains for a few days.

How was the contact with the host?
Marie and Max were super friendly, totally uncomplicated and open, helpful and talkative. The time was entertaining and we felt very welcome. Many Thanks :)

The parking space at Maximilian is perfect for exploring the many sights in the Harz Mountains. With a van or camper bus you can stand under the carport (you might want to clarify the height beforehand), or you can pitch your tent in the garden. From here we could perfectly start our tour through the Harz Mountains.

How was the contact with the host?
Maximilian and his family welcomed us very friendly. Since he travels a lot himself, for example to go fishing, this opens up great topics for conversation. Thank you for the nice stay!

We had a cosy and quiet night in Max's garden. The shower and toilets were clean and the neighborhood really calm.

How was the contact with the host?
It was really nice to be welcomed by Max, even tough we arrived a bit late at night. Max and his partner are friendly and the communication was easy. They offered us some local beers, which I found really cool.

Communication was very clear. Staying with this small family was a very nice experience. The family is very nice, the property is well-kept and the bathroom was clean. We received a few helpful excursion tips and were also allowed to use a lot on the property. All in all a very nice short trip. :-)

We were in the national park and looked at the area.

Our camping trip with the Röder family was great ...
It's a really nice, uncomplicated and very sociable little family .. The area offers many nice corners to pitch your tent.
In the evening we could all sit comfortably by the campfire and received tips for our excursions the next day.
Showers and toilets are very clean and tidy.
We would love to come back =).

Max and Marie are great and personable hosts, we felt very comfortable. The garden is beautiful and well-kept, we had plenty of space for two tents and a covered, spacious seating area. The location is also great, a visit to Wernigerode is very worthwhile and you can go on great excursions from Veckenstedt. We recommend.

Tips for new guests?
I can only make one recommendation.

Cancellation Policy

Guests who cancel at least 3 days before check-in date will receive a refund of the amount paid by them (excl. Campspace fees). Otherwise they will not be refunded.

Rules

Since we also use our property ourselves, we ask you to respect our privacy.

Celebrations or alcohol bouts are not welcome, but of course we look forward to a beer with you in the evening.

Dogs are basically not a problem as long as you have your four-legged friends under control and they don't dig up the garden or eat our cat :D (we also have two rabbits).

With us you can only stay overnight with a tent, there is enough space for 3 to 4 tents. Unfortunately, we have no space on the property for mobile homes. A T5 bus without superstructures can easily be parked under the carport in front of the property, so if you are interested you could also spend the night in your vehicle and use our sanitary facilities and electricity (vehicle height max. 2.10 meters)

We also ask you to keep your water and energy consumption in moderation and not to shower more than necessary.

If you have any special questions or requests, you can of course ask at any time.
