About this campspace

We have a small charming campsite in the Peel, in front of the door starts a beautiful walk called the "struinpad"
Our campsite is located in a landscaped garden with beautiful paths along small fields and bushes. Hidden in the green is our Vintage caravan "Miss in the green" a beautiful Constructam from 1964, a lovely spot in a corner of the campsite.
Our pipowagen "Poppy" is also located at the campsite, a nice and complete accommodation for two people..
It is wonderful to relax in the evening after an active day with a drink at the fire pit in a cozy campfire place.

Perfect for...

Anyone who loves nature, peace and space

Introducing, we are Gerrie and Will from England
In 2007 we bought a former market gardener's house in the parish of Grashoek, municipality of Peel en Maas, on the edge of the Peel. In 2013 we started B&B de Torenvalk. We have been busy transforming 12,000 meters of agricultural land into a landscape garden complete with a standard orchard, vegetable garden, a toad pool, bushes, hiking trails and camping meadow. We have renovated the house ourselves with an eye for ecological living, such as a solar boiler, reuse of rainwater to flush the toilets, installed 22 solar panels and a wood stove that heats the central heating water. The garden has now been landscaped and the house has been split into a B&B section and a residential house.

Tips

  • Going to drink coffee or tea with tea and picking time "in seventh heaven"

  • Walking and or cycling through the Maria Peel

  • Day trip to Venlo or the outlet center in Roermond

  • A 10-minute walk from Restaurant de Meiden, delicious food

What a wonderful place to relax! The entire site is full of nice corners and walking paths, truly a small paradise. The facilities (toilet, shower, outdoor kitchen) are in tip-top condition and the gypsy wagon was exactly what I expected :)
Practical for the gypsy wagon: there is washing up liquid + tea towel, coffee machine (senseo + regular filters), and all the cutlery and crockery you need (there is even scissors - that's exceptional :D). Having breakfast outside under the canvas in the morning, is there anything better?

How was the contact with the host?
Smooth and pleasant! Gerrie gave me a good tour and the golden tip about the Struinpad. Will came to say hello every morning in a friendly manner :)

Tips for new guests?
The Strolling Path! You can start the walk (13 km) from the site, you will find the information on the notice board near the toilets. One of the most varied walks I have ever done! During your walk, also make a stop at De Zevende Hemel, eat a crumble cake and pick your own berries. :)

Be sure to eat at De Meiden (13 min. walk)!

Beautiful campsite.
Nice nature around us. The sanitary facilities were very nicely maintained. Nice showers too.
The area was wonderful for cycling and walking.

How was the contact with the host?
Totally fine!
Will and his wife regularly went for a round of comp.

Tips for new guests?
The strolling path is a nice walk of 13 km (you can also shorten it).
If you are with a camper, it is nice if you have bicycles with you so that you do not have to cross the campsite all the time. (It is also stated in the regulations that this is not allowed(

I was lucky enough to be able to stay in the gypsy wagon 'de poppy' last minute. It was a wonderful stay! Will received me warmly and I was even allowed to use the bicycle for free. What a service! And as if it wasn't hospitable enough, he put me on the bus in the village. It warmed my heart. In addition, the stay was clean and pleasant. The camping guests made the stay even more pleasant! Actually, there is nothing to note. I look back on a wonderful stay. Will and his wife should be proud of what they have achieved.

A blissful and peaceful place to completely relax! Thank you for the hospitality, for helping us out with a hammer and extension cable, and for the nice chat. We enjoyed our stay in our tipi tent, the campfire and the surroundings. Definitely recommended for anyone who needs some rest, also with the children. Hopefully you also enjoyed one of Belgium's better beers!

A small, very quaint little camping right in the middle of nowhere; still easy to find though. It's very quiet in the area and we slept like babies. There are some animals on the camping grounds, but in enclosures and do not any way cause hinder. We really loved our stay here.

How was the contact with the host?
The owner, Will, is a very sweet and nice man. I thought it was almost a shame we couldn't spend more time with him, because he really loves the place. His love for the environment and the place is contagious.

Tips for new guests?
Having a bike, either bicycle or scooter or something similar, is probably the best means of transportation in the area. We were here by car and that was decent, but didn't give us much chance to appreciate the surrounding nature more.

What a lovely place! We were with camper and dog for one night to break the return journey, but we were sorry that it was only one night.
The campsite was quiet when we were there, lots of space and every corner has been thought about. Sanitary facilities are good and clean and even the waste corner looks cozy. The atmosphere is good and the animals make it extra cozy.
The forest is next to the campsite, where you can walk for a long time, plus if you have a dog with you.
We will definitely come back and hopefully an extra night to enjoy this place even more.

I felt great regret when I drove onto the grounds of De Torenvalk with my wonderful rental camper. Regret as I only booked 1 night. The Kestrel is coming home and an adventure in one. What a beautiful place. Quiet and welcome, clean and inviting.
I will return. And then a little longer!

How was the contact with the host?
Very nice contact with the sweet, enthusiastic, diligent hosts. They are proud of their place and take care of it with love. That can be seen and felt!
The small and big surprises in every spot and corner; really amazing!
The highlight was the baker who drove onto the site with delicious fresh rolls and delicious pie!

Fantastic small-scale campsite! There were only a few guests when we were there; wonderfully quiet and nice little fields.
With the sanitary facilities, everything has been thought of: neatly clean and cozy (instead of clinical). Hiking trails and eggs for sale at the neighbors.
Furthermore, it is a great cozy spot because of the horses, goats, chickens, corners for campfires, etc. We were really too short for everything it had to offer.

How was the contact with the host?
Will and his wives are treasures: extremely warm that makes you feel right at home. We even wrote our name on a welcome sign on arrival! Will is a lover of unique campers, which resulted in a nice click about our (rented) pride!

There were two of us and we felt comfortable from the first minute. For those who just want to enjoy the peace and quiet outside in the green, this is just the thing. The sanitary facilities are very clean and invite you to take a warm shower. Every morning the baker comes by, where you can get rolls, bread, cakes and much more. The area is big enough to always find a place to be undisturbed. 2 beautiful fireplaces invite you to chat with other campers.

How was the contact with the host?
The contact with Will and his wife was also great. We felt very comfortable with them.

We camped with our tent at Wil and Gerrie in the Peel. What a lovely, beautiful place! We immediately relaxed and are definitely planning to come back again. The campsite is located in the middle of a beautiful, versatile nature reserve, which is super suitable for walking and cycling. But also nice places to have a coffee or for our two-year-old son to play. Everything has been thought of for him at the campsite too! Nice sandbox with lots of toys and all kinds of (old) bicycles/cars. The kids there complete it for us. We enjoyed!

How was the contact with the host?
Contact with Wil and Gerrie was very pleasant. Quick responses beforehand. On arrival there was a sign waiting for us, very personal. During their stay there was room for a small chat and they regularly walked around the campsite. Wil had a place in mind for us, but we were also allowed to indicate our preference.

Scout Andre About the scout program

Tell us about your experience
Wonderful place in the Peel”, is a correct description of this mini campsite, after the warm welcome by owner Will, I was able to fully enjoy this weekend.
The mini campsite is well maintained and equipped with all the simple amenities. Neat showers and toilets, climbing and play equipment for families with young children. Several campfire places, and quite a lot of animals; a goose, chickens, bucks and even several ponies. And then I haven't even mentioned the many (predatory) birds that also know how to find this beautiful natural environment. In addition, the campsite has a semi-open 'living room' for general use, also ideal in bad weather.
I myself was allowed to experience the luxury of the vintage caravan 'het juffertje' for a night. This old refurbished caravan is in very well maintained condition. It does have some small rust spots here and there, but what do you want from a caravan from the 1960s. The caravan is located in a somewhat more green secluded corner of the campsite. The caravan is equipped with every luxury, think of a gas stove, refrigerator, plates, mugs, pans, cutlery - although I did miss a good cutting knife for the vegetables, luckily I had my pocket knife with me - and even a matching vintage radio, all are present .
The caravan site also has the luxury of having its own private hammock and toilet with sink (also in matching vintage style). An ideal place to isolate yourself from the rest of the mini campsite.
There can be a bit of cold wind on the outside terrace of the caravan, but you can of course dress for that, or decide to go inside, because there is also a very spacious seating area inside. If you prefer cosiness, you can go to one of the fire places where you can stare into the flames until the late hours (there is plenty of firewood available locally) or like me with Linda and Jeroen (the only other camping visitor this evening) have profound conversations and exchange ideas, of course all pleasant while enjoying a drink.
There is also plenty to do in terms of excursions, for example I thoroughly enjoyed myself during a 13 km walk on the signposted 'Struinpad', less than a 10-minute walk from the campsite. The route has several crossing routes so that you can also shorten the route. I can certainly recommend the coffee with cake, or (for a little later in the day) a delicious lunch at the picking and tea garden 'in the 7th heaven', I was also received super friendly there. In addition to walking, a canoe trip or cycling through this same beautiful area were of course also possible!

Great experience. It has 2 camping areas close to each other, each one with one firepit (wood is offered for free to moderate use). One of them has playground, the other not. Besides that, you'll find 2 tents working as kitchens (one includes a fridge) and also the bathroom/shower area with above the average cleanliness. Just beside the camp area stay the animals (chickens, 2 goats, 1 duck and 2 poneys). There are children bikes/cars available. It's really child friendly.

How was the contact with the host?
Very quick confirmation on the booking (what's important because I did 1 day in advance). Will provided good information on where to set the tent (concerning sunlight) and also tips on what to do around.

Tips for new guests?
One of the kitchens has electric outlets but not appliances, so bring your own kettle to warm water.
