Welcome to the Holschbacher height,

Located on the edge of the Westerwald is our micro campsite at the farm and invites hikers, cyclists or other travelers to stay overnight. Between cows, horses and chickens you can pitch up to 2 tents or come with a van or small mobile home. A fireplace with seating offers you the option of ending the day at the campfire. Firewood can be provided for a small fee.

In our bar in the stable building you will find the toilet as well as a refrigerator, stove and coffee machine, which are available to our guests. You are also welcome to stay in the bar or outside under the large walnut tree in the cool shade.

Those who like hiking in nature will find what they are looking for on the Holschbacher Rundweg (6.5 km) in the immediate vicinity. The Siegsteig is recommended for longer hikes. There are also a number of routes for cyclists in the area that lead deep into the Westerwald. A clear recommendation for both hikers and cyclists is a tour through the Nistertal.

Other excursion destinations for you would be the Marienstatt Monastery, the Druidenstein or the Holzbach Gorge, to name just a few. Beautiful Hachenburg is also always worth a visit.

Feel cordially invited!

It was a great weekend under the nut tree on the Holschbacherhöhe.
Barbecue, campfire, slow down.
And it even works in any weather.
Hans has set up a great old-school bar.
The bar with a wonderful wood fireplace provides cozy warmth.
We had a lot of fun with the dartboard.
The small kitchen with stove completes the whole thing.

How was the contact with the host?
Hans is a nice host who is already calm.
There is no rush or anything like that on this farm.
Exactly what we were looking for.

Tips for new guests?
In the cold season, Hans gets cold very quickly. Give him a warm place by the campfire 🔥 or by the fireplace in the bar.

Once a year we visit a winery and get inspiration from winemakers and chefs. This year, after two years of restrictions, many people must have planned it and we couldn't get accommodation for 4 couples anymore.

But since most of us are fans of camping, we followed the recommendation of some colleagues and booked a place at the wonderfully located Holschbacher Hof.
It rained a lot, but we still had a great evening. Delicious dishes and bread from the Dutchoven, wine, game from the grill, ... We endured it well and for a long time in the cozy bar.

How was the contact with the host?
The contact with colleague Hans is always enriching! And the Salmen family as hosts are simply an asset. Nice that Elke and Hans sat with us for so long, it was very comfortable, we had a lot of fun.

Tips for new guests?
What tips should you give other camping enthusiasts? It should go without saying that the facility, which has been prepared with great attention to detail, is valued and that everything is left clean.

Maybe this: enjoy the wonderfully refreshing shower early in the morning with a view over the landscape, when in the background Caruso has his hens line up for morning roll call with loud crowing.

We had a great eventful weekend in a beautiful place with a great view! Here you could let your soul dangle. With love and a wealth of ideas, this camp space is prepared and maintained for guests. Chickens provide fresh eggs, home-grown potatoes could be purchased and the freshly harvested garlic was a real treat.

How was the contact with the host?
Hans is a host with heart and passion. He puts a lot of love into his camp space, where you feel very welcome. Even the in-laws have and warmly welcomed.

Tips for new guests?
Just enjoy the view, if you eat eggs don't forget to order them in advance. You should also plan for the wood for the campfire. Unfortunately, it was too dry for us and the risk of fire too high, but the fireplace is super nice. The orchard offers plenty of space, but little shade. But here Hans has an awning ready. Under the walnut tree you can secretly stand directly underneath. The right place for shade and tree fans.

We had a great and relaxing stay at the fruit trees with our two dogs. The entire place has been built with great attention to detail. A solar shower, many small lamps, a beautiful fireplace and the mega view surrounded by horses and chickens round off the whole ambience wonderfully. All in all it was a successful short break.

How was the contact with the host?
Sehr gut!

Information for guests

1. You will receive contact details on site. If I don't answer right away, I'll call you back as soon as possible.

2.Bar / Toilet:
The bar can be used as a common room. Please leave them as you found them. Please only use the fireplace by prior arrangement.
The refrigerator is only switched on when required and should be switched off again before departure. The same applies to the flow heater under the sink.
Only use the dishwasher by prior arrangement.
Please leave the toilet clean.

3. Campfires / fire baskets / fire bowls
There are various ways to make a fire in our yard. Basically, this should be discussed beforehand. Unfortunately, due to increasing drought, it will not always be possible to make a fire. We ask for your understanding.
If we give the green light, a wheelbarrow full of wood can be provided for €5. This is usually enough for a whole evening.
A fire basket or fire bowl is available for the space under the walnut tree. There is a beautiful fireplace for the place by the orchard.
We ask that you do not overdo the fire and always keep an eye on it.
Before going to "bed" please extinguish the fire with water. Watering cans are ready.

4. Crickets
We are happy to provide a tripod free of charge. Please clean the grill grate again after use.

5. Electricity and water
Mobile phones and other small devices can be charged free of charge in the bar.
If you also need electricity for your camper, you can get it for a small flat rate by arrangement.

6. Animals
If you want to pay a visit to the animals, you should arrange this with us beforehand. In principle, do not allow children to go to the animals without being accompanied by adults. Please do not feed the animals.
For dog owners: Please make sure that your four-legged friends do not hunt horses or chickens.

7. Rest Periods
Basically, we don't want to have a loud party in the courtyard. Of course, there is nothing wrong with a bang at the campfire. But please make sure that the volume is really reduced after 10 p.m.

Guests who cancel at least 14 days before check-in will receive a refund of the amount paid by them (excluding Campspace fees). If they cancel between 7 and 14 days before check-in, they will receive a 50% refund. Otherwise they will not be refunded.
