About this campspace

A park-like complex includes the bishop's castle Burgliebenau, located on an old arm of the Weißen Elster. Our family is restoring and reviving this castle complex from 1186 with small cultural events.

Important information

attachment
The parking space is located directly in the forest below the castle complex.

pitches
There are many large trees on level meadows, but there are also sunny spots.

The sanitary facilities
Two outdoor shower cabins with only cold water are available as showers. A bathing lake is 1 km away. Toilets are available in the house.

Furnishing
If required, short-term WiFi access can be provided in the house. Electricity is available outside.

activities
We are happy to offer an entertaining guided tour through the history of the castle for a small fee. The Wallendorder lake offers a wonderful swimming opportunity.

a notice
The freight airport Leipzig is not far away and there is frequent air traffic at irregular times. However, we have found that not everyone is bothered by it.
Since we are renovating the castle over many years, it may happen that we also carry out work near the parking spaces between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

We are restoring and living in the former episcopal castle in Burgliebenau. We are also opening this 800-year-old facility to the public with small cultural events.

Tips

  • A small guided tour through the history of the castle complex gives insights into the history of the region.

  • A regional celebrity, the Gose beer is available in the traditional regulars in the neighboring village of Döllnitz

We had a very nice holiday at the castle 😎 There was enough space for a camper, tent and pavilion. Use of the toilet and shower (only for hardy people 🥶😋 in the summer the cold water in the outside shower is pleasant) was included - thumbs up!
There is a beautiful playground in town and there is a beautiful, clean lake about 15 minutes away on foot. Excursion destinations such as Leipzig, Halle, Merseburg and much more. You can also reach it relatively quickly by car.
There is a lot of nature around the castle that you can explore. 🌳🌻
Dagny and Matthias are wonderful hosts, we were even allowed to attend a historical presentation about the castle 😊
Thank you for the wonderful time!

Unfortunately we only spent one night here.
We received a very warm welcome and received an extensive course briefing including a guided tour of the castle. The pitch is beautiful, between the castle and nature. On our next visit we will certainly not only spend one night here.

How was the contact with the host?
Totally warm welcome by Dagny and her family

Tips for new guests?
Don't just book one night here.

A wonderful weekend in a fantastically beautiful atmosphere!

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly hosts. We were welcomed kindly, courteously and absolutely warmly. Despite an upcoming major event, we got a tour of the castle and learned all sorts of interesting facts about the property and the location. The hosts were unobtrusive but always available to answer questions and made our stay a wonderful experience. Thank you for great hours!

Tips for new guests?
Be sure to visit and take the time for a guided tour of the historic castle!

Great, special pitch on the walls of an old castle in a beautiful garden. Close to the lake, the cities of Halle and Leipzig, with a very friendly family who are reviving the old building on their own. Anyone who likes to spend the night in a quiet, special and connected way has found their perfect place here.

How was the contact with the host?
Very reliable, nice contact. Open, friendly and just the right balance between contact and freedom.

Tips for new guests?
Matthias is a historian by profession, profession and with passion. If you are interested in history, you shouldn't miss out on having him show you around the castle. With a little advance notice, he also offers Dinner & Whiskey Tasting.

When we arrived, you could tell right away what a charm the castle exudes. The pitches are in the garden - a power connection and sanitary facilities are available in the house. It is definitely worthwhile to examine the castle and possibly take a tour with the hosts. All in all it was a nice and quiet night, since the garden is also directly adjacent to the forest.

How was the contact with the host?
Dagny and her husband welcomed us very nicely and courteously, told us about the history of the castle and showed us some of the rooms. Thank you for the nice conversations!

On the way through, we spent one night in the tranquil Burgliebenau. The garden and the courtyard are very spacious and wonderfully atmospheric. Our boys were allowed to play in the huge sandpit and had fun with the porch swing and the prepared animals indoors. The Prasse family is lovingly renovating the castle. Super clean toilets in the castle and a fun outdoor shower are available. There is only cold water, but there is a shower curtain and a shelf.

How was the contact with the host?
Very friendly family. We were warned that there are currently an extremely large number of mosquitos on site, so that we could stock up on our car supplies. Unfortunately, a tour was not possible due to roofing work, but we were able to purchase a small guide and our curious questions were all answered.

We had a wonderful stay with the Prasse family. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The castle is an absolute highlight. We had the idyllic garden to ourselves and could enjoy the peace and quiet. There is a lake very close by, which we explored with our dogs and bicycles. There are some swimming areas. We looked for a secluded little bay so that the dogs could go into the water without a leash. The planes and the work on the castle during the day didn't bother us, the people were all very friendly and since we were still out during the day we hardly noticed anything. Thank you for your hospitality. Until next time. Jana & Julius
