Sheltered lawn between the meadows

About this campspace #s003685
Behind our mini grove is a sheltered piece of grassland where 5 tents or a few caravans can stand. From early in the morning until late at night the sun shines between the trees over the field that you have to yourself. The Reeuwijkse Hout and everything else Het Groene Hart has to offer is nearby. There is enough space to park your cars. There is a simple BBQ ready for you (bring your own coal) and a fire pit. There is also some wood to make a nice fire, if you have too little use you can buy a bag of beautifully dried firewood for € 4.50. You can hear the nearby motorway in the distance in the background and actually give a pleasant noise.
Of course there is the possibility to charge a phone.
2 km away are the Reeuwijkse Plassen, where you can walk, swim, surf, cycle and sunbathe on the beach.
The place is ideal for a group of up to 10 people to experience a nice outdoor weekend

The campspace was different for us than expected. The field we were allowed to use was a stone's throw from the highway, and along the field was a kind of car garage / workshop. We missed a lot of peace and privacy. That is why we started looking for another camping spot. When we contacted the owner afterwards, he responded very understandingly and immediately gave our money back. That was against our expectations and very pleasant!

The contact with the host was nice, welcoming and friendly. The location was nice with the possibility to make a fire, spacious view, sheeps in front of my camper van and clean toilet. Less nice were the mosquitoes (because of the water next to the camping spot?)
We enjoyed waking up to the sound of rustling poplar trees at this lovely campspace. The campspace is situated next to the cosy farm of our host Johan and his wife. The campspace is surrounded by trees filled with birds and pastures with sheep. During our stay, the farm featured some other lovely animals like cats with newborn kittens and even a buzzard s nest. The area features a lake, which is great for hiking and cycling with plenty of space for a picnic. The lake also offers a great opportunity for swimming and watersports. The lake is a good place for bird watching with lots of geese, swans, pheasants and many other species making an appearance. During our stay we dined at Restaurant Paviljoen Reeuwijkse Hout next to the lake, which is not the cheapest place, but offers excellent food with a view. Our host Johan is very outgoing and he was eager to accommodate our requests. All this made us wish we could have stayed longer but we are sure to come back soon. If like us you enjoy an adventurous stay at a secluded space with simple means, this space is an excellent choice.

The location is on a farm right next to the highway so you could hear cars passing all the time. It is nicely situated since in good weather (we were unlucky with the weather) it’s close to a big lake and park where there seem to be a lot of activities. It also seemed a bit crowded for the space. There were already 3 large tents when we arrived and 7 people in a fairly small space. The Campspace was quite close to the sheep and while it was nice to camp so close to animals, the manure pile was too close to the tents. Even for someone like my friend who works with sheep every day. However the grass at the space was well maintained. Otherwise Johan was friendly and was kind enough to let us stay in large common room to be out of the rain. It’s not the place to stay for a more “rustic” experience but if you want to be close to Gouda and a nice lake in good weather not a bad place.

Friendly welcome, nice small field behind the farm. Well close to the A12, so next to many birds you can hear the highway in the background.

Johan was a fantastic host - he helped with everything we needed and more. We had a great BBQ, and spent a day cycling nearby. The countryside and lakes nearby are beautiful!

The contact with landlord was excellent! You could go to Johan if you any questions or needed an explanation, but he also lets you do your own thing. He trusted us tremendously. The place was very beautiful. We had the entire place to ourselves. It is close to a large nature reserve with many hiking and swimming opportunities.
