About this campspace #s005038

Your host

piet

Old-fashioned camping in the meadow. Alone, with your friend, family or with your (many) friends… with a tent, van or in the tipi. One paved motorhome. Four-legged friends also welcome.
Back to basics, lots of space, enjoying nature and a campfire; this is how you can describe our offer.
We offer camping pitches for couples, families or small groups as we like to camp, while travelling, hiking or bushcrafting. Larger groups can rent the tipi and the entire site.

You will stay in our orchard, vineyard, hay meadow or grove on our 1.7 ha site, with very spacious camping pitches. View of the hills of the beautiful Heuvelland.
Also one paved camper place + place for one friendly camper.
On our property you can walk to the vineyard, the food forest, the wild forest, the sheep meadow, the swimming pool ...
Possibility to make a campfire in our fire bowl at your pitch (fire bowl hire: €5/night, you can also buy wood on site: €8/box).
Everything is very basic: a wooden hut with two dry toilets, one shower with (lukewarm) warm water, two cold-water outdoor showers and three water taps. No (dish) sinks and other sanitary facilities.
The 52m2 teepee tent is made available free of charge, in common, with a refrigerator and an electricity point for charging telephones, headlights, etc. (from April to September). Also kettle. You can hide in it from the rain, make a campfire…
Everything is therefore deliberately kept very basic, minimalist and natural, as you would almost camp in 'the wild'.
In consultation, possibility to swim in our natural, deep pool, or jump from our tree house five meters high into the water.
By appointment you can also use our wood-fired sauna barrel at the swimming pool (20 euros, 2 to 3 sauna courses, approx. 1 to 1.5 hours).
Possibility to buy chilled wines and beers from the region.

Ideal for bon vivants, nature people, 'planters'… who also like to live minimalistic close to nature on 'the outside' without frills. Also ideal for bushcrafters. Not intended for campers who move their entire household effects…

If all of this (or a few) appeals to you, you are most welcome!

Because we think that you can only really let our place and our beautiful region come to you, we have decided that you should stay at least two nights.
Families with several adults can rent one place. Groups of friends from more than 5 adults rent several places in order to increase the distance from their neighbors because of. ev. noise nuisance. Larger groups rent the entire site with the tipi (if still available).
Tourist tax of €1.25/pp/pn. including. Electricity connection of 6 amp at your campsite: €3/night.
No wifi on site.
We prefer not to have extra large tents, genre 'party tents' in the landscape and can only be placed, subject to an additional charge (see next step in booking); we will take this into account at your location.

Our region.
You can make beautiful walks and bike rides here. Walking junction 48 is located on our site from where you can start many beautiful cross-border unpaved walks, and the gr 128 passes there. For hikers there are cheap trekking places for one night.
Several good restaurants and eateries in the vicinity (between 1.4 and 3 km walking distance). In the folk music center you can catch a live performance. Also delivery of pizzas (weekend).
'Belle' or Bailleul (French Flanders) is only 5 km away where all shops (from tasty bakeries to hyper-marchés) and good restaurants can be found. Nieuwkerke (Flanders) is 4 km away, there you will find a small Spar shop and bakery, butcher… Lille is half an hour's drive away. In Heuvelland there is also a lot to visit, visit the tourist office in Kemmel.
Also visit Ypres and Poperinge and the many reminders of the war in the region. The coast is 45 minutes drive and Cap Blanc Nez 1h20 drive.

Additional questions? Make a 'fictitious' booking and ask your question, nothing is paid yet. The booking will then be canceled if desired.

The place under the walnut tree was very spacious, beautiful and quiet. It was our first time camping with Campspace, but this experience will certainly not be the last! It was nice to be able to enjoy nature with not much more than the basics.

How was the contact with the host?
The host was very friendly and gave tips for walks etc.

Very nice place! The site itself is great, but so is the environment. There were still a lot of people at the camping spot, but we still had the feeling that we had our own place. We will definitely go back to test the sauna and swimming pond!

How was the contact with the host?
Piet came by 2x, and was very friendly and interested, and was happy to tell more about his place.

Contact with Piet was immediately very personal. Cool pé who welcomes you and tells you how everything works. He also has a nice philosopher that we could relate to, so the ice was quickly broken. He is like his campspace: a bit untouched :-)
The campspace fully met our expectations. Peace, nature, beautiful view, electricity, nice and very beautiful region to explore (by bike). Moreover, a nice host who leaves you alone. So what more could you wish for. We were there with a campervan and ideal terrain. Be sure to bring your bike because this region is of course suitable for this. In the (wide) area there is a lot to experience: war history, wine estates, beautiful walking routes too, nice villages also over the 'serbs' and ... not unimportant, you regularly come across a nice cafe. We will definitely come back here.

Rules

Few rules, take advantage to just enjoy nature!

Have respect for nature and for yourself.
Have respect for each other, without prejudice or preconceived impressions, and everything will run as it should. When in doubt, talk to each other or agree on how and what.
Furthermore, we 'interfere' little with the course between the camping guests. We have no intention of playing for 'campsite boss' or 'toilet sir'; everyone is 'old and wise' enough.
We also work completely on trust and there are few restrictions.

Nevertheless, a few small, obvious agreements:

1. The terrain is a 'silent' place*: ie. no amplified music (with nuisance for your nearby neighbours). (Folk) musical instruments are of course welcome, but no 'dominant', genre tam-tam, etc.
2. Respect for the other visitors and residents of the site, please calm down from 11 pm.
3. As always in nature, also here 'Leave no traces', Also no filter cigarettes on the ground, please. Glass, iron, hard plastic can, in addition to visitors, also seriously injure our animals. There are garbage bins in one place where the waste can be sorted.
4. Help each other to keep the toilet and shower clean, this makes it pleasant for everyone. The toilet is a dry toilet and the operation is explained in the toilet. There is one dry toilet with a children's toilet seat, accompany your child the first time, that's where things sometimes go wrong… There is product and disposable gloves available to clean the toilet in the event of 'a mistake'.
5. Only use ecological products for washing up, shower…
6. Dogs welcome. Keep your dog at your camping spot, if necessary on a leash. No nuisance for the neighbors. Dogs that bark at the slightest movement can be disruptive. Cleaning up dog turds on the property; poop bags are provided.
7. Important. When renting the fire bowl: keep the fire in the bowl. Do not make a fire on the ground. Do not throw cans, caps, glass, etc. into the fire. Gathering wood on the site is really not allowed, both economically and ecologically, stick to that, please. Only campfire in our municipal-approved fire bowl! Fire extinguishers are available.
9. If desired (rain, cold…), the tipi can always be used by the tenant(s) of a fire bowl, to make their campfire there (together). Others pay €5/evening + wood €8.
10. Camper vans are converted vans with a limited weight. Estimate for yourself whether you can drive your (heavy) camper van on (wet) meadows.
Heavy camper vans and campers are on the paved camper place. Electricity is possible. You take your waste, etc. back with you.
11. We are not responsible for any accidents, damage, consequences due to suddenly changing weather conditions, theft or loss of material and/or personal belongings.

* Sometimes noise from unavoidable agricultural activities on the domain (mowing, haymaking, pruning…) and around (planting and harvesting season…), don't let this spoil the fun, it also has its charm.
