Everyone is and remains welcome at the 't Heuvelhof nature reserve in Dranouter!
———
UPDATE 08/11: the meadows are too swampy to prepare with a van or camper. We are looking for a better, natural paved site, until further notice. The tipi has also been removed until mid-February.
———-
We offer you several unique places: from old-fashioned camping with your tent or van in the fields around the vineyard, spending the night with your many friends in and around the tipi, cozy in our cozy holiday home or experiencing the warm feeling in and around our authentic caravan. All this alone, with your friend, family or with your (many) friends... Four-legged friends are also welcome. There is also one paved camper place.

Back to basics, lots of space, enjoying all natural elements and a (camp) fire, enjoying the things you don't do at home, even with less luxury, that's how you can describe our full range.
1) Our CAMPSITES: for couples, families or small groups like we like to camp, while travelling, hiking or bushcrafting. You will stay in our orchard, vineyard, hay meadow or grove on our 1.7 hectare site, with very spacious camping pitches. View of the hills of the beautiful Heuvelland.
On our property you can walk to the vineyard, the food forest, the wild forest, the sheep meadow, the swimming pool...
Possibility to make a campfire in our fire bowl at your pitch.
Everything is very basic: a wooden hut with two dry toilets and one shower with (lukewarm) warm water, two cold-water outdoor showers and three water taps. No (dish) sinks and other sanitary facilities.
The 52m2 teepee tent is shared free of charge, with a fridge, kettle and electricity to charge the telephone, headlight, etc. You can shelter in it from the rain, make a campfire…
Everything is therefore deliberately kept very basic, minimalistic and natural, as you would almost camp in 'the wild'.
Opportunity to swim in our natural deep pool, or jump into the water from our 5m tree house!
By appointment you can also use our wood-fired sauna barrel at the swimming pool.
Of course you can buy chilled wines and beers from the region or apple juice from our orchard.
Ideal for bon vivants, nature people, 'planters'… who also like to live minimalistic close to nature on 'the outside' without frills. Also ideal for bushcrafters. Not intended for campers who move their entire household effects or people who are 'afraid' of nature.
If all of this (or a few) appeals to you, you are most welcome!
Families with several adults can rent one place. Groups of friends from more than 5 adults rent several places in order to increase the distance from their neighbors because of. ev. noise nuisance.

2) One paved MOTORHOME PITCH + place for one friendly motorhome. Camper place with a view of the hills and the setting sun.

3) Larger groups can rent the TIPI and the entire site for them alone, with all other amenities. Early reservation recommended!

4) On our property, slightly hidden next to the bush and under the large walnut tree, there is also an authentic ROULOTTE. In the roulotte there is a small kitchen, sitting room with wood stove (wood included), bathroom with shower and toilet and a queen-size bed for 2 people. You also have a private terrace and garden with a view over the countryside and the hills. A fire bowl, a tripod barbecue and unlimited sauna use are also included as standard (excluding wood). You also have access to the entire yard and the swimming pool. Everything here is kept basic. Naturally, the caravan is delivered in a clean condition, with emphasis on kitchen, bathroom and toilet hygiene; don't expect spic-and-span, there may be a spider squeaking in a corner.

5) At our farm house, in the former annex barn, there is a GUEST COTTAGE for up to 6 people. You have two floors. The sitting room has a cozy wood stove (wood included). There are also two terraces, so you can enjoy the sun from morning to evening. There is a fire bowl with a tripod barbecue on the evening terrace; so you can enjoy it even longer, winter & summer. And unlimited sauna included in the price (excl. wood). You also have access to the entire yard and the swimming pool. More info, availability and booking is only possible through Airbnb.

Combining different stays is of course possible. Book early enough or inquire!

Tourist tax of €1.25/pp/pn. included. Electricity connection of 6 amp on your camping pitch: €3/night.
Residual waste bag at €1.5/piece mandatory, incl. processing other waste.
No wifi on site, but in the roulotte (paying 4g modem) and free in the guest house.
At the campsite: extra large tents, genre 'party tents', we prefer not to have in the landscape and can only be placed, subject to an additional payment (see next step in booking); we will take this into account at your location.

Our region.
You can make beautiful walks and bike rides here. Walking junction 48 is located on our site, from where you can start many beautiful cross-border unpaved walks, and the gr 128 passes there. For hikers there are cheap trekking places for one night.
Several good restaurants and eateries in the vicinity (between 1.4 and 3 km walking distance). In the folk music center you can catch a live performance. Also delivery of pizzas (weekend).
'Belle' or Bailleul (French Flanders) is only 5 km away where all shops (from tasty bakeries to hyper-marchés) and good restaurants can be found. Nieuwkerke (Flanders) is 4 km away, there you will find a small Spar shop and bakery, butcher... Lille is half an hour's drive away. There is also a lot to visit in Heuvelland, visit the tourist office in Kemmel.
Also visit Ypres and Poperinge and the many reminders of the war in the region. The coast is 45 minutes drive and Cap Blanc Nez 1h20 drive.

Soil was wet, we had to be ground back on the street with our Van when we left. But this was no problem for Piet, who very helpfully came to help us with his tractor.
In the evening we enjoyed the lovely sauna outside with swimming pond.

How was the contact with the host?
Very good

Tips for new guests?
In the winter season it is best to have four-wheel drive, the terrain is wet and slippery. It is best to discuss this in advance with Piet

Last month we cycled the brand new Flanders Route and therefore spent one night at Piet's trekking site. The description 'back to basics' applies 100% to this campsite. In our opinion, the strong points of this campsite are: the silence, the great view of the Heuvelland and the Kemmelberg, the tipi with excellent facilities such as refrigerator, availability of tasty local white wine, large socket for chargers and a great place for hikers to food, shelter, etc. When we were there it was quite muddy here and there, but come on, that's part of the concept of a nature campsite.

How was the contact with the host?
Great, good tips, nice chat.

Tips for new guests?
For us it was immediately on the road the next morning, but next time we would definitely like to use the sauna and make a campfire.

Host piet has responded

Hi Jasper,
Nice, accurate description, thank you. Mud was indeed a problem in some places this summer, but little could be done about it. Still, we look at throwing wood chips on some trails.
You might want to check this out the next time you come by.
Until then.

Very nice place to recharge your batteries. Piet likes to give nature every opportunity and the camping site is therefore also set up in that way. We especially enjoyed the peace, the view of the Kemmelberg and the evenings around the wood fire.

How was the contact with the host?
We were received very kindly. Piet took the trouble to stop by from time to time for a chat. He gave us very valuable tips for the eateries in the surrounding area. We also received a lot of information about the camp site beforehand.

Tips for new guests?
We had our bikes with us and that turned out to be absolutely worth it. The region is particularly beautiful and in the morning you can go by bike to get your croissants in Belle, just across the border. You like to take the slopes...

It was a lovely place with beautiful views and lots of space. The sanitary facilities were kept clean, which is always the question with a dry toilet. We enjoyed the sauna and the swimming pond, stoking the fire and bbq. In short, despite the bad weather, we had a good time and we definitely want to return.

How was the contact with the host?
Piet regularly came to check if everything was okay in a pleasant way, while in the meantime he helped the cars and campers, which were stuck due to the muddy paths, to get loose with the tractor.

A variety of camping pitches, handy facilities such as tipi with fridge, sockets and the option of making a covered fire.
There is space between the different camping pitches, so there is enough privacy if you wish.
There is also a simple dry toilet & heated shower.
Many walking and cycling opportunities nearby. Very beautiful region!
A dip in the swimming pool, possibly in combination with the private sauna!
We enjoyed this idyllic place.

How was the contact with the host?
Owner Piet was very easily accessible, and helpful with any questions or problems.

Tips for new guests?
Be sure to book the sauna, highly recommended!

We had a great time with Pete. Beautiful place overlooking Dranouter. Pete is a good host. He helps you where he can. He gives you all the space to stand where you want. Despite the rain and the mud we enjoyed it.

How was the contact with the host?
Great contact. Piet gives you all the space and is there when needed.

Tips for new guests?
The sanitary facilities are basic. If you like luxury, it is better to stay at another campsite. If you like nature then you are in the right place. Take your bike with you, a beautiful area for cycling.

Contact with Piet was immediately very personal. Cool pé who welcomes you and tells you how everything works. He also has a nice philosopher that we could relate to, so the ice was quickly broken. He is like his campspace: a bit untouched :-)
The campspace fully met our expectations. Peace, nature, beautiful view, electricity, nice and very beautiful region to explore (by bike). Moreover, a nice host who leaves you alone. So what more could you wish for. We were there with a campervan and ideal terrain. Be sure to bring your bike because this region is of course suitable for this. In the (wide) area there is a lot to experience: war history, wine estates, beautiful walking routes too, nice villages also over the 'serbs' and ... not unimportant, you regularly come across a nice cafe. We will definitely come back here.
