This year we offer 10 pop up camper pitches on our domain De Krieckaert in Gellik Lanaken.

This park is pure nature and rests at the entrance of the Hoge Kempen National Park and a stone's throw from Maastricht.

Come and take a walk in our park. You will experience the peace, hear the birds chirping and enjoy the healthy air and the beautiful view. De krieckaert is a park like no other: we are located at the entrance of the largest nature park in Belgium: the Hoge Kempen National Park and are chosen by lovers of absolute tranquility, nature who opt for a back to basics experience. On the other hand, the park is located a stone's throw from Maastricht with its many shopping and culinary options.

Taverne de Krieckaert will spoil you with very affordable snacks and drinks, both on the cozy terrace and in the form of takeout.

Attention : as the places are pop up there is no water or electricity provided.

For more information about the location and the atmosphere of the park, please visit the website of the Krieckaert

Perhaps a nice place for the summer. We then experienced bad weather and otherwise. Parking in the dark is not cool.

How was the contact with the host?
Poor, the weather was bad, but that doesn't mean you should be unfriendly

Tips for new guests?
Compare the price with other campsites. Too expensive

Dear Anneke, we are sorry that you did not understand our vision when booking.
As described on the site, we mainly go for "back to basics" and completely off grid in a nature and quiet area.
Then it is not the intention to provide electric lighting or many other modern comforts.

great first camping experience for us! Brasserie nearby that also delivered dinner to the door of the camper and a beautiful view of a horse meadow.

How was the contact with the host?
very sympathetic host!

We were on a former tennis court (almost invisible, but the pink gravel betrayed the history), so nicely paved, just next to the tavern/playground. Excellent base for playing children, and start of countless beautiful, signposted walks in the adjacent nature reserve! The charming holiday park with picturesque chalets completes the picture :-) We will most likely come back here!

How was the contact with the host?
We were kindly received by the owner of the tavern. He guided us to our spot.

Tips for new guests?
No water or electricity. Although you can turn to the tavern in need. (During our stay it was closed)

It was a casual stay. Half an hour by bike from Maastricht, which was great. We enjoyed our weekend away.

How was the contact with the host?
The contact was good, correct and smooth. The host came to us when he saw us arriving with our van.

Small space for self catering campers overlooking fields, meadows and the forest. Beautiful surroundings and nature, excellent for walks and cycling. We cycled to Maastricht with the kids (less than an hour). The taverna has very nice pizzas!

How was the contact with the host?
Very easy, quick reactions, very flexible host

Tips for new guests?
Bring your bicycles if you can!

The description of this place is misleading and the pictures give the wrong impression.
The standing pitches are 10 tight spots, next to each other, on a piece of wasteland directly behind the tavern, overlooking a children's management campsite. Because of the terrace guests, children's management and dogs of the staff, it is never quiet. You certainly don't have privacy.

How was the contact with the host?
The owner of the tavern is friendly and the host responds adequately to written messages.

Tips for new guests?
Unless you really want to stand on closed private property for little money: go somewhere else. A normal campsite has nicer pitches, or go wild camping for privacy and tranquility.

Dear Pieter,
We're sorry you misjudged our "back to basics" philosophy.
As also described in the description, De Kriekaert does not want to be a normal campsite. We offer basic pitches for campers, paved, safely behind a barrier and located at the entrance of the Hoge Kempen National Park with its thousands of hectares of nature.
The largest motorhomes have already been placed on our pitches without any problems, which are really not small.
The fact that you came by with a tent in a site that is actually intended for motorhomes (which, of course, need a paved surface) probably doesn't do the user experience any good.
