Nicolet

We have one camping spot available on our (horse) farm under the oak tree with a beautiful view on the grasslands around you. You can use a separate shower and toilet in our house.

A nice spacious place with a view of the polder. We are located in the middle of "het Groene Hart" where there are a lot of cycle possibilities. You can also visit the beautiful historic old cities Leiden, The Hague and the beach is also close by (Wassenaar, Katwijk and Noordwijk).

Guests only need to bring their own bicycle. For a little fee you can also bring your horse! We also have a volleyball court since recently!

Dear Campspacer my name is Nicolet Don. I live together with my partner and two kids on our hobby farm located in "het Groene Hart" near Leiden and The Hague. We both work at the office but in our free time we take care of our horses and chicken and enjoy the space around us.

A fantastic place close to Leiden. A whole meadow for yourself and beautiful walking and cycling routes in the area. We had a great time and the busy road was not disturbing for us.

How was the contact with the host?
Nicolet welcomes you hospitably and every now and then comes to have a chat.

Tips for new guests?
A nice place to enjoy the panoramic view, a gem in the middle of a busy part of the Netherlands.

Our first cycling holiday in our own country, we stayed at Nicolet as our first stop.
The stay was perfect. Only we stayed during the haymaking, mowing, windrowing and tedding. And nearby is a highway, so bring earplugs. A day in Leiden to do well, Naturalis. And swimming at Vlietland.

How was the contact with the host?
Good

The location is nice in the photos but you don't realize that it is stuck between the wind turbines and the busy road. So it's very noisy and you don't have the impression of being in the countryside at all. The farm is in disarray and to get water you have to go to the stable. Nothing is organized to easily wash the dishes. I was very disappointed. If you are looking for calm, this is not the place to go.

Dear Isabelle,

We're sorry you found the location disappointing. We are on the edge of the Groene Hart, but in the middle of the Randstad conurbation, which causes a lot of disruption. I am also not an official campsite with all amenities, but only have a camping spot in my "backyard". That is also what Campspace stands for. Hopefully your next location was better.

Kind regards Nicolette

It was very windy weather. We were lucky that Nicolette allowed us to use the shed. A beautiful place, but many highways in the area that cross this idyllic spot.

How was the contact with the host?
Nicolette is a very warm and welcoming woman. Everything was possible, everything was allowed, she is always looking for a solution.

Tips for new guests?
The toilets and showers are really far from the sleeping place. We had to go through 2 meadows where there were horses.

Contact with the host went flexible and quickly. We stayed on a beautiful camping spot where we were all alone. We felt welcome and enjoyed our weekend in peace. Yet we had to get used to the constant noise off traffic of the road nearby.

A wonderful place to camp! Among the greenery, fruit trees and flowers abound.
Committed owners who give you complete freedom and security at the same time. Really a very nice place where I would like to come back in the autumn (during harvest time)!

Spent two nights with Nicolet and family on the land with my friend. What a party: with our tent under the oak tree, between the horses. Nicolet is very hospitable, but above all lets, you go your own way. Very relaxed. Highly recommended if you want to get out of the city for a few days. Very charming area for walking and cycling.

Our stay was perfect! The hosts were very warm and helpful. We were free to pick a comfortable campsite spot in the big orchard.

Surrounding is excellent for race cycling. We have had a morning swim in the IJssel which was lovely. We will come back here in any case.

My daughter and I booked our first camping trip and went for the big oak tree at Nicolet’s farm.

We were welcomed by her son who showed us our spot and the bathroom. Also pointed out where we could swim (it was hot that day). We set up our tent and took a stroll through the meadows where my daughter enjoyed her swim. Great jumping from the bridge 😊

On the way back we saw various hares, met the sheep and the horses who were there. After thoroughly cuddling with the horses we enjoyed our diner and slept great. We enjoyed our stay so much, we extended with another day.

Nicolet and her family are very welcoming and hospitable, and we recommend her Campspace site (although we would rather keep it secret 😉).

We had an awesome time and will definitely go back!
