About this micro camping
We hope you take a look at our garden and house and consider it a top-spot to enjoy a visit to the east end of London.
Since taking in new people on this basis is a new and exciting step we would love to know some about you. Why not link up via facebook? We are registered there via CAMPINMYGARDEN and hope you are too, or, have a profile on this website.
Here are the best of a bunch of reasons why camping here would be great!
1/ We are walking distance from the Olympic site...it’s a mile and a bit walk, which takes you through historic and now very arty Hackney Wick/Fish Island, across the canal and onto the site.
2/ You'd be pitched in a tranquil and lovely garden with shade from the tree's; hammocks, bbq facilities and garden-grown salad veg.
3/ The house is on one of the nearest Victorian streets to the west of the Olympic stadium. It's a street famed for east-end 'girl-power' (!)Sylvia Pankhurst and the suffragette’s actually lived and worked on the street, and, a mile away, Annie Bessant, a Victorian matchstick-maker, started the first-ever strike in the UK.
4/ Mile End underground station (on 3 tube lines) is a ten minute walk away on a very nice safe route through beautiful Tredegar Square. The east-london (train) line and DLR are also very close-by, as are docking stations for park and ride rental bikes.
5/ A main bus route to central London is one minute walk away.
6/ You will be near lovely Victoria Park
7/ You will be near the beating heart of London - Brick Lane and Shoreditch is one mile away due west...and Fish Island is one mile away due east. The area is stacked full of good places to eat and drink. Local art-centres, cinemas and the London Buddhist centre are all nearby
8/ If you are looking for tranquillity amidst the bustle and excitement of London, our garden could be a top spot for you.
9/ We are looking to welcome interesting and calm people from all over the world. People who come to enjoy our space and seek to share food and views and who will respect us and our neighbour’s love of happy peace! Our neighbours are not averse to us doing this but, we do not wish to invite any who would think that breaking the calm past 9.30pm outside should be fine....it just wont work that way.
10/ Two 3-person tents can be provided and pitched in their own separate spaces. Each can have double inflatable mattresses (you are required to bring sleeping bags etc). There is a toilet and basic stone sink (with cold water only) accessible without entering the house.
11/ am and pm bathroom/shower time (with hot water of course) will be made available in the house to all guests.
12/ There can also be one double sofabed arranged in the spacious living room. This will need to be put away each morning while your personal stuff can be stored in the upstairs study. (safe storage of personal stuff in study also applies to our campers)
13/ We can prepare breakfasts and evening meals, available at low cost (to cover the food-price and cooking-time) and hope people join in to share food tips and eating together.
14/ As per the photo’s, the front half of the garden has space for a two-person tent either side of the tree. In the summer, the flowers around the tree are 1 metre high and therefore each space is secluded. When people stay the garden kids swings won’t be wizzing past the openings to your tents when you are there!
15/ Street parking is possible but the area is a permit zone. We can provide visitor permits. They only last for 5 hours after which they must be changed...only one is needed for all day saturday, none for sundays...any day is free to park between 5.30pm thru to 8.30am. We can provide permits. We would charge the council rate for the cards (£2 each 5 hours) and would charge a further £5 to take full responsibility for changing the permit after 5 hours
Payment requirements and terms: - its best to set some ground rules to be clear from the start!
1/ Payment in full on arrival
2/ A cash deposit of £40 per person is also required on arrival. This is there to ensure quiet is observed after 9.30pm and no breakages etc have occurred.
3/ Payment for food (if required) paid just like a café at meal times!
4/ No keys will be provided but our home shall be attended during staying periods. All you have to do is give us an approximate indication of arrivals and departures during your stay
5/ No access to the house provided after 11pm……and, as per 2/above, if you are back after 9.30pm, no noise please getting tucked-in to your tent!!
