    Brittany is made up of 4 départements: Ille-et-Vilaine, Morbihan, Côtes-d'Armor and Finistère. Brittany is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south and the English Channel to the north. Brittany covers an area of around 27,000 square kilometres.

    The landscape in Brittany is mainly made up of forests and farmland. Forests make up around 30% of Brittany's land area, while farmland accounts for around 60%.     What to see when camping in Brittany? 

    1. Mont Saint-Michel: this magnificent historic site is situated on an island off the north coast of Brittany. I know what you're going to say: Mont-Saint-Michel is Norman. You're absolutely right, but the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel is 500 square kilometres in size and forms part of the Gulf of Saint-Malo in Brittany Have a look at our blog on Camping in Normandy! You can get there by bus or car, but there are also ferries departing from several ports in the region. The mountain is famous for its medieval abbey and its beautiful views over the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.

    2. The forest of Brocéliande: this legendary forest is located in southern Brittany and is home to many mythical sites, such as the castle of Merlin the Enchanter and Lake Viviane. The forest is also renowned for its many hiking and cycling trails.
