Our story

Jack and Beth welcomed Alexander and Robine

In 2016, Alexander (co-founder) was on a campervan roadtrip with his girlfriend Robine. They were frustrated with the full and massive campsites and motorhome parking lots. It was clearly not what they were looking for.

They decided to ring Jack & Beth's doorbell to ask if they could stay with them on their property that night. Alexander and Robine were welcomed with open arms and Beth assigned the spot on their land with the most beautiful sunrise.

The next morning they were not only surprised by the sunrise. Beth brought breakfast on (air)bed and shared some awesome recommendations on what to do in the surroundings.

The first seed for the Campspace community was planted. Upon returning home to the Netherlands, Alexander founded Campspace with Hugo (co-founder and CEO), Merijn and Jeroen. Since then, we’ve grown to the platform for sustainable outdoor overnight stays that we are today, and we will keep on providing new possibilities to reconnect outside.

Sustainable tourism

Revolutionizing tourism by unlocking hidden gems

Tourism has many positive effects, but there is also a downside. Currently, the travel industry accounts for about 10% of global CO2 emissions. Due to the worldwide population and prosperity growth, the number of tourists and the negative impact will increase.

By opening up hidden sustainable outdoor stays closer to home, we make tourism more sustainable and meet the needs of the new generation of travelers. Those who are hungry to generate unique experiences and memories, but not at the cost of the planet and local communities.

Our network of hosts, guests and scouts gives us the opportunity to take many small and large steps in the field of sustainable travel. We are driven to accelerate our positive impact together with the community.
